Die Weihnachtsbäckerei lief die letzten Tage auf Hochtouren und dann sagte mir mein Geselle für die bunten Plätzchen noch kurzfristig ab wegen Zahnschmerzen (armer Kerl)… Kurzentschlossen setzte ich mich trotzdem hin und machte noch ein paar wenige farbenfrohe Plätzchen – schließlich brauchte der Teller ein paar Akzente. Dazu stand eine Winterliche Schoko-Gewürz-Torte auf dem Programm und eine Abwandlung der Cinnamon Rolls, dieses Mal in Ermangelung von Pecans mit Walnüssen. Aber auch sehr lecker.

There has been a lot of activity in the Christmas bakery these past days and then the little companion who usually helps me with the colorful cookies had to cancel due to a toothache (poor little guy)… So I sat down by myself and made a few as I needed some accents for the plate. In addition to the cookies a Wintery Chocolate Spice Cake and a variation of the cinnamon rolls were on the menu. For lack of pecans I used walnuts for the latter. Yummy.

Wenn solche Köstlichkeiten aufgefahren bzw. weder Kosten noch Mühen gescheut werden, dann kann es sich eigentlich nur um den weihnachtlichen Kaffeeklatsch handeln. Auch meine im vergangenen Jahr gewonnenen schwedischen Freunde gesellten sich gerne dazu. Die Zahl der anwesenden Freunde aus Fleisch und Blut hielt sich zwar krankheitsbedingt in unerwarteten Grenzen, was der Stimmung jedoch keinen Abbruch tat.

The amount of delicacies produced and the fact that neither cost nor effort were spared can only mean one thing: the day of the Christmassy coffeeklatsch had come. The group of Swedish friends I found last year joined in as well. The number of real life friends was unexpectedly low due to sickness but that didn’t dampen the mood for those present too long.

Das Highlight jedoch war ein „Mitbringsel“ – das Wort trifft es nicht wirklich: ein Adventskalender. Aber nicht irgendeiner, nein, nein. Ein ELCH-Adventskalender! So könnte ich dann evtl. doch die kommenden Woche gerne aufstehen morgens…

The indisputable highlight was a gift for the hostess: an advent calendar. But not just any advent calendar, no, no. A MOOSE advent calendar! Chances are that I’ll get up with a smile now for the coming weeks…

Aber heute ist ja nun der zweite Advent – es wird also Zeit für das nächste Adventsfreebie. Heute verlose ich ein Glas meines selbstgemachten Rumtopfs! Das Vanille-Eis dazu müsstet ihr dann allerdings selbst besorgen.
