Ich habe festgestellt, das Babysitten im Advent die ideale Beschäftigung ist: man kann jemandem einen Gefallen tun / sich nützlich machen und gleichzeitig der saisonalen Lieblingsbeschäftigung des Weihnachtskartenschreibens nachgehen. Besser geht’s doch nicht, oder? Und wenn man dann auch noch mit Zimtsternen, Bratapfeltee und Double Chocolate Muffins in einem wunderbar weihnachtlichen Wohnzimmer versorgt wird, bleiben keine Wünsche offen 🙂

I noticed that babysitting in advent is an ideal pasttime: you can do someone a favour / help out and at the same time indulge in your favorite occupation of the season: writing Christmas cards. It’s as good as it gets, right? But it gets even better… when you are provided with a wonderfully decorated living room and a tray with cinnamon stars, baked apple tea and a double chocolate muffin 🙂

Dazu hat mich meine Schwester auf ein Highlight des Internetradios hingewiesen: North Pole Radio. Da wird den lieben langen Tag Weihnachtsmusik gespielt – und zum größten Teil, wie mir scheint, in Versionen, die nicht unbedingt bekannt sind. Mal eine Abwechslung… für die, die es brauchen!

Also, my sister drew my attention to a gem among internet radio stations: North Pole Radio. They play Christmas songs all day long. It seemed to me that the majority were not too well-known cover versions of all kinds. It’s good for a change… should you need one!

Es beruhigt mich übrigens, dass es Leute gibt, die noch mehr Karten schreiben als ich… Die Autorin von The Unobservant Bird, ein Blog, den ich regelmäßig lese, hat heute verkündet, dass sie sich langsam an ihre 150 macht. Das lässt mich mit meinen 100 im Staub zurück…

It was reassuring, by the way, that there are people who write way more Christmas cards than I do… The author of The Unobservant Bird mentioned in today’s entry that she’s started writing her 150 cards. It leaves me behind in the dust, really with only 100…
