Lebkuchenhäuser gehören irgendwie nicht zu meinen Weihnachtstraditionen… Umso faszinierter war ich von diesem Mitbringsel zu meinem Open House am vergangenen Sonntag.

Gingerbread houses have for some reason never been part of my Christmas traditions… All the bigger the fascination when a friend brought this one as a gift for the Open House last Sunday.

Der Elch an der Eingangstür fiel mir natürlich als erstes ins Auge, aber so richtig spooky sind ja wohl auch die Fledermäuse auf dem Dach!

Of course the moose by the front door was the first thing I that caught my eye but aren’t those bats on the roof spooky??

Der tiefe, dunkle Wald startet auch gleich hinterm Haus…

The deep and dark woods start right at the back door…

… und auf dieser Seite kriechen u.a Frösche die Wände hoch!

… and this side has frogs creeping up the walls

Eigentlich viel zu schade zum Essen… aber ich bin doch sehr versucht, mal mit der einen oder anderen Fledermaus anzufangen. Oder den kleinen Schokotalern mit Streuselzucker drauf. Wie lange halte ich wohl durch?

Actually, it would be a shame to eat it… but I have to say I’m really tempted to try a bat or two. Or the little chocolate bits with sprinkles. How long will I resist?
