Der heutige Post fängt mal mit einem Video an – ich muss ja zugeben, dass mich die Weihnachtswerbung des amerikanischen Limonadenherstellers immer schon mitgerissen hat. Diese Neuinterpretation von Greenpeace ist dann allerdings der ideale Auftakt in den Dezember im Rahmen meines Projekts, das Plastik zu reduzieren. Limonade gibt’s bei mir für Gäste und zu besonderen Anlässen, aber nur in Glasflaschen und nicht von dem bekannten amerikanischen Konzern. Es gibt ja sogar Limonade in Flaschen mit Bügelverschluss, das ploppt ganz gut!

Today’s post starts with a video for a change – I have to admit that the Christmas commercial of a well-known American lemonade producer has always fascinated me. This new take on it from Greenpeace, though, is the ideal opener for my December post in the „No platic!“ series. I do have lemonade for guests and special occasions but it comes in glass bottles and is made by smaller, local (or let’s say German) producers. There’s even lemonade in bottles with a clip lock!

Aber da dieser Post auch ein Adventspost ist, hatte ich mir überlegt, wo ich weihnachtlich am Plastikverbrauch drehen könnte. Da ist mit nicht allzu viel spezifisches eingefallen. Viele Geschenkverpackungen fallen bei mir an… aber Plastik ist daran nur Tesafilm und vielleicht mal Kräuselband. Aber gut – das könnte man mal umgehen und vielleicht kein buntes, glitzerndes Geschenkpapier verwenden? Ich habe experimentiert. Das wird sich dieses Jahr noch nicht durchsetzen – einfach, weil so viel Papier noch da ist. Aber ich finde die Ergebnisse durchaus gelungen:

As this post is also a post in advent, I was wondering where I could get rid of plastic in anything concerning Christmas specifically. I couldn’t think of anything. I prepare loads of presents but all that is plastic is scotch tape and maybe some ribbon. But okay – maybe it works without these, too. And I could pass on colorful and sparkly wrapping paper? I have tried a few things. This is not going to be the norm this Christmas – if only because I have so much Christmas wrapping paper left. But I quite like the results:

Allerdings: das ist Geschenke verpacken für Fortgeschrittene – nicht einfach ohne Tesa-Film, gar nicht einfach. Man könnte sich auch für wiederverwertbare Verpackungen entscheiden… teilweise sind da die Verpackungen quasi das Geschenk. Der kleine Beutel stammt aus einem Ungarn-Urlaub, den größeren habe ich auf einer Plattform im Internet ertauscht. Aber auf kleinen Stadtteil-Weihnachtsmärkten kann man auch manchmal fündig werden:

And if that’s not your cup of tea, you could also go for re-usable packaging… when sometimes the wrapping is the present. I got the small bag on a vacation in Hungary, the larger one from an online exchange platform. Sometimes little neighborhood Christmas markets (here in Germany at least) also have someone selling very nice handmade bags:
