Ja, hallo erstmal! Da bin ich wieder… nach einer Woche der Abwesenheit. Und das war so: ich hatte besseres zu tun! Ich hatte Besuch von einer langjährigen Freundin mit ihren beiden Kindern. Sie waren so ziemlich genau eine Woche hier und haben mein Leben entführt 😉

Well, hello! I’m back… after a week’s absence. And this is how it happened: I had better things to do! A longtime friend was here for a vacation with her two little ones. They stayed for a week and abducted my life 😉

Es ist gut, eine große Wohnung zu haben. Mein Wohn- und mein Esszimmer hatte ich komplett abgetreten und das war gut so, denn es stellte sich heraus, dass ich es mit zwei ausgesprochen kreativen Besuchern zu tun hatte, die besonderen Gefallen an meiner Bastelecke gefunden haben. Dummerweise habe ich die unglaubliche Elchkartenkreation, die vollkommen ohne mein Dazutun entstanden war, nicht mehr rechtzeitig fotografieren können… sie befand sich leider schon auf dem Postweg zur Lehrerin. Aber auch die anderen Kreationen können sich sehen lassen, oder??

It’s good to have a large apartment. I had surrendered my living and dining rooms completely and it was good I did as it turned out I dealt with a highly creative bunch who delved into my creative nook. Stupid enough, I forgot to take a picture of the marvellous moose card creation (which was done when I was absent, mind you) before it was well on its way to the teacher. But the other creations are also quite something, aren’t they?

Fette Fische… ich muss ja sagen, der pink geschminkte Mund des orangen hat was…

Fat fishes… but I have to say that I love how the orange one applied pink lipstick…

Eine Prinzessin hoch zu Ross, begleitet von wundersamen Wesen auf fliegenden Teppichen und einer fliegenden Schildkröte, die zu trällern scheint (Bedeutung nicht gesichert).

Hier interpretierte ich ja anfangs vollkommen falsch: es handelt sich im rechten Bildteil NICHT um Pferdeäpfel und die von ihnen ausgehende Duftwolke, sondern um Steine und eine Staubwolke, die der galoppierende Vierbeiner hinterlässt.

And here’s where I went totally wrong: to the right you do NOT see pieces of horse dung and the smelly cloud emanating from them but in fact rocks and the dust cloud left behind by the gallopping quadruped.

Zwei Nachmittage konnte ich mich im Büro auch freischaufeln, von dem wir einen zu dritt in den Rheinauen verbracht haben. Das war ein voller Erfolg, auch wenn ich anfangs das Gefühl hatte, es könnte im Desaster enden. Das große Labyrinth musste erforscht werden. Kaum waren die Karten gekauft, schon waren die Kinder verschwunden und ich dachte nur „Uh-oh, war das ein cleverer Schachzug??“ Nur um wenige Minuten später folgendes Bild zu sehen… und selbst noch EWIGKEITEN durch das gelbe Chaos zu suchen. Nun ja, genau gesagt, mussten sie runterkommen, und mich leiten.

I was able to take two afternoons off one of which the three of us spent in Park Rheinaue. It was a great success even though I felt disaster looming at the start. The girls wanted to tackle the great labyrinth. I had hardly purchased the tickets when they were off and all I could think was „Uh-oh, was that a clever move??“ Only to get the following view moments later… while I kept searching my way forever and a day. Actually, to tell you the truth, they needed to come down to guide me.

Musste ich mich zu Beginn noch von Freunden und Kollegen zur Lage und Ausstattung von Spielplätzen beraten lassen, so bin ich da jetzt voll informiert – auch wenn ich das Gefühl habe, an einem warmen Tag reicht auch ein Brunnen, um mind. drei Stunden Spaß zu haben. Aber das Wetter ist ja nicht immer gut…

I had consulted friends and colleagues about the location and facilities of playgrounds but now I’m a pro myself – even though I got the feeling that on a warm day, all you need is a fountain to have three or more fun-filled hours. But then, the weather isn’t always perfect…

Nach einem aktiven Tag heute ist meine Wohnung nun wieder im Barbara-Modus, die Wäsche ist gewaschen, die ersten Flaschen Kirschlikör sind abgefüllt – und da man die guten Kirschen ja nicht wegwerfen kann… Es schreit nach einer Fortsetzung. Alles in allem auf keinen Fall ein Grund zur Verzeiflung… aber der Playmobil Schäfer hatte wohl einfach zu lange in einer Kiste gesessen und gewartet – und war dann überfordert.

I’ve had a very active day today resetting the apartment into Barbara mode, doing laundry and bottling the first cherry liqueur – and as you can’t throw out those great cherries… It calls for a sequel. All in all it’s really no reason to get desperate… but the Playmobil sheperd had been sitting in a box too long I suppose – and was then totally overwhelmed.
