Die letzten beiden Wochen war sowohl sehr stressig (im Büro), als auch über die Maßen erholsam (zuhause). Der Berg an neuen Weihnachtskarten ist stark gewachsen, aber weil ich im Home Office nun wirklich nur noch vor dem Bildschirm sitze und in Videokonferenzen starre, hatte ich abends keine Lust, noch mehr Zeit vor dem Rechner zu verbringen. Das relativiert sich nun etwas. Und so werde ich wieder aktiv bei den Jingle Belles, die in der aktuellen Challenge Vintagekarten erbitten.

The past couple of weeks have been very busy (job-wise) and at the same time very relaxing (at home). The pile of new Christmas cards has grown a lot higher but as I spend virtually all day in front of my laptop doing home office, staring into video conferences and the like, I was not inclined for more screen time at night. It seems to be getting a little better now. So here goes with the Jingle Belles and their Have Yourself a Very Vintage Christmas challenge.

Auf den ersten Blick sieht es vielleicht nicht wirklich nach Vintage aus. Das Motiv jedoch ist ein Teil eines Schulbuchs aus den 60er oder 70er Jahren (habe versäumt, das zu überprüfen). In Ermangelung anderer Absatzmöglichkeiten habe ich nun wirklich begonnen, ganz, ganz schweren Herzens Bücher dem Altpapier zuzuführen – aber nicht, ohne jedes einzelne noch auf eine Verwertung in irgendeiner Form zu prüfen. Dieses lebt also als Weihnachtskarte noch ein wenig weiter.

Maybe it doesn’t look all that vintage at first glance. But the motif is taken from a 60s or 70s school book (I forgot to verify). After the year-round yard sale there are still so many books left that I had to start filling the paper trash bin with them – with a very heavy heart. And not without checking every single one for a possible afterlife of some sort. So this one lives on as a Christmas card.

Bevor ich mich jedoch verabschiede, möchte ich euch noch Sophia vorstellen. Sie ist die erste Teilnehmerin an meinem Kreativaufruf für Kinder. Dass sie aus Süddeutschland (Augsburg) kommt, sieht man vielleicht am Zwiebeldach der Kirche! Das Wimmelbild hat sie gemalt im Austausch mit einem Mädchen in Turin, die Mamas sind befreundet. Ich finde das Bild super, besonders die ganzen Katzen!

Before I go, let me introduce you to Sophia. She is the first participant of my call for art works of all kinds for kids. Maybe you can guess that she is from Southern Germany (Augsburg), when looking at the very shape of the church tower, or its roof, rather. She’s made this „Where is Walter“ kind of picture for a girl in Turin/Italy, their mothers are friends. I think this is a really great picture and I for one particularly like all the cats!
