Pink Purple Aqua Green

Bestimmte Farbkombinationen sind in dieser Woche das Thema bei Winter Wonderland. Kombiniere pink oder lila mit aqua oder grün. Oder nutze drei der angegebenen Farben. Oder gleich alle vier.

Certain color combos are to go for in this week’s challenge at Winter Wonderland. Use pink or purple with aqua or green. Or three of the above. Or all four!

Mein erster Versuch wurde ziemlich… intensiv! Dann habe ich mich nochmal in meinen Materialien umgesehen und kam dann zu folgendem Ergebnis:

Macht’s gut und habt einen guten Start in die Woche! Bei mir ist’s nicht so prickelnd… nachdem ich den Eintrag gestern Abend fröhlich vorbereitet habe, liege ich heute mit der ersten Erkältung seit anderthalb Jahren flach. Pünktlich zum Sommer.

Take care and have a good start into the week! Mine wasn’t quite that successful… after I had happily prepared this post last night, I’m down with a major cold as of 3 a.m. this morning. The first one in like one and a half years. Right on time for summer.

A moose named Holly

Ilex! Ich sah die Karte irgendwie schon vor mir, viel grün, ein Touch Rot… Ilex sollte es nämlich sein (wahlweise Weihnachtssterne), um den Anforderungen der Challenge bei CCAYR im Juli zu genügen. Und dann das!

Holly! I pictured the card already, lots of green and a touch of red here and there… Because holly was asked for (or poinsettias) to meet the demands of CCAYR’s July Challenge. And this is what happened!

Aber was könnte mit einem Elch schon falsch sein?

Weihnachtspost / Christmas Mail

Seit langem habe ich an keiner Challenge mehr teilgenommen, wo es um das Einhalten einer Vorlage geht. Und ich glaube, ich halte mich viel zu sklavisch an die Skizze. Wie auch immer, bei der Sparkles Christmas Challenge ist gerade nebenstehende Skizze umzusetzen und das ist mein Ergebnis:

It’s been a while since I last participated in a challenge based on a sketch. And I think I always stick too close to the sketch and don’t let my mind roam freely enough. Anyhow, at Sparkles Christmas Challenge we were asked to create a card based on the sketch above. And this is what I did:

Red? Green? GREEN!

Nach meinem unerwarteten Erfolg in der letzten Woche war ich auf die neue Challenge der Jingle Belles besonders gespannt: eine Weihnachtskarte entweder in rot oder in grün. Ich habe mich für grün entschieden:

After my unexpected success last week I was looking forward to the new challenge at the Jingle Belles (even more than usual!): a Christmas card in either red OR green. I went with green:

Der untere Balken ist nicht links schwarz – auch dort ist er glänzend grün, aber irgendwie habe ich das nicht so abbilden können. Wie auch immer – ich könnte schon gleich mitsingen (das machen die doch sicher, oder?)! Habt eine schöne Woche!

The lower bar is not black on the left – it’s that bright green as well, just as on the right side. Somehow I just couldn’t take a picture to reflect that. Anyhow, I feel like joining in their caroling – as that is what I imagine they’re doing! Have a great week!

Noel

Mein erster Gedanke war, dass ich wohl nicht teilnehme bei Winter Wonderland diese Woche, da ein Spruch den Mittelpunkt der Karte ausmachen soll. Und mit Sprüchen habe ich es ja nicht so. Jedenfalls nicht auf Karten.

I first thought that I’d skip this week’s challenge at Winter Wonderland, Sentiment as focal point, as I usually „don’t do sentiments“ – on cards, that is.

Aber dann habe ich dieses verspielte NOEL bei Bugaboo Stamps gefunden und entschieden, dass das geht! Zwar könnte die Karte irgendwie auch zum amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitstag verschickt werden, aber egal.

But then I found this cute NOEL at Bugaboo Stamps and decided that it would work! Even if this card somehow looks as if I could send it on 4th of July, too…

Habt einen schönen Sonntag… im Regen kann man sich hier in Bonn gut die Titanenwurz ansehen, auch wenn sie zum Zeitpunkt des Schreibens noch nicht blüht.

Rosen und Weihnachten / Roses and Christmas

Eigentlich hatte ich heute einen kleinen Selbstversuch in Sachen Mindesthaltbarkeitsdatum vorstellen wollen… Aber das muss warten, denn nach Rosen ist mir heute viel mehr! Besonders, nachdem ich mich bei den Jingle Belles umgetan und festgestellt habe, dass meine Vintage-Karte eine lobende Erwähnung erhalten hat. Ausgerechnet!

I had originally intended to report on a little self-experiment on best before dates today… But that just has to wait because I feel much more like roses today! And that is after I had a look at the Jingle Belles a bit ago and found out that my vintage card (of all cards…) received an honorable mention in their challenge!

Vielleicht ist Weihnachten doch im Juli?! Das Wetter könnte es zumindest vermuten lassen… Morgen ist schon Freitag – genießt das Wochenende!

Maybe Christmas is in July after all?! The weather leaves nothing to be desired in that respect… Anyhow, tomorrow it’s Friday already, so enjoy your weekend!

A Vintage Christmas

Mal wieder eine Challenge, die eine echte Herausforderung ist: die Jingle Belles erwarten eine Karte im Vintage Stil. Neben „weiß“ ist das für mich immer die größte Herausforderung. Aber einen Vorteil hatte es. Im Langtext heißt die Challenge Have Yourself a Very Vintage Christmas, was zur Folge hatte, dass ich intensiv vor mich hinsummend am Basteltisch saß… im Juli.

Another challenge that lived up to the expectations: the Jingle Belles are asking for Vintage style cards. It comes in a close second after cards in white for being a major challenge for me. But there was an advantage to it. The full title of the challenge is Have Yourself a Very Vintage Christmas and as a consequence I sat there in my creative nook humming away… in July.

Ich nenne diese Karte mal lieber Vintage-inspiriert… aber dafür mal wieder 3D! Und von wegen Weihnachtslieder summen im Juli: ich könnte mich ja weglachen, wenn ich die Einträge von Gail lese, die immer von der Warnung: „Warning! This post may contain Christmas cards!“ angeführt werden.

I think I’d rather call this card Vintage-inspired… but another 3D creation! And when it comes to humming Christmas songs in July: I think it’s hilarious every time I read Gail’s posts that start out with „Warning! This post may contain Christmas cards!“

Monochromatic

Es könnte stimmen: ich komme wieder in Schwung. Es ist ja nun auch schon Juli und es wird Zeit, bei der Weihnachtskartenproduktion aufzuholen. An der aktuellen Challenge bei Winter Wonderland, Monochromatic, freut mich besonders, dass ich den kleinen Filzelch unterbringen konnte, der schon ganz lange in meinem „Materiallager“ schlummert.

It could be right: I’m gaining momentum. It’s already July after all and it’s high time I caught up on my Christmas card production. The current challenge at Winter Wonderland, Monochromatic, finally put this little felt moose to good use that has been sitting in my stock for a while.

An dem verwendeten Hintergrundpapier gefällt mir besonders, dass die Ornamente alle an einem Wunsch oder weihnachtlichen Stichwort hängen:

What I like best about the background paper is that all the ornaments dangle from a sentiment or Christmas related word:

Im Erdbeerhimmel / Strawberry heaven

Der gestrige Tag entwickelte sich unerwartet zu einem Haushaltstag. Die Wohnung ist sauber, ich habe ungefähr sieben Mahlzeiten gekocht und entschieden, dass es an der Zeit sei, zum ersten Mal Marmelade zu kochen. Und was liegt da näher, als Erdbeeren? Beim Chefkoch lachte mich Andis Erdbeermarmelade an… mit Amaretto und in der in den Kommentaren angeregten Variante mit Marzipan.

Yesterday turned out to be a day of household chores. The aparment is clean, I prepared about seven meals and decided it was high time to give making jam a shot. Strawberry, of course. I’d found Andi’s Strawberry Jam at chefkoch.de very appealing, with Amaretto. And there was a comment suggesting the addition of marzipan… that couldn’t be wrong!

Es war an sich überraschend einfach und schnell passiert… und ist ausgesprochen lecker! Nur ist es ein ganz kleines bisschen auf der zu leicht streichbaren, sprich flüssigen Seite geblieben. Es könnte an der großzügigen Dosierung des Amaretto gelegen haben? Aber so oder so scheint es mir ideal für die Verwendung auf frisch gebackenen Waffeln…

It was a surprisingly easy and quick thing to do as such… and it really is yummy! It only remained a tad on the liquid side after hours of letting it thicken… it might have something to do with the amaretto, come to think of it. Anyhow, it seems to be perfect for use on freshly made waffles…

Da ich selbst – außer auf Waffeln – eigentlich gar keine Marmelade esse, kam mir die laufende ABC Christmas Challenge gelegen, die da heißt: M is for Make a Gift. Ich betrachte das mal als Prototyp, denn Weihnachten wird die Marmelade, die ja ihre Farbe verliert (außerhalb eines Gefrierfachs), nicht mehr wirklich ansehnlich sein.

As I myself don’t eat much jam – other than on waffles – I was happy to see that this week’s ABC Christmas Challenge is: M is for Make a Gift. I consider it to be a prototype as the jam will certainly not be nice to look at any more once Christmas comes around as it turns all brown (if not stored in a freezer).

Also könnte man ja auch hingehen, und ein weiteres Freebie verlosen. Ja, könnte man, oder? Also gut! Ich verlose diesen Weihnachtsprototyp unter all denen, die bis Freitag, 6. Candy Canes

Nach langer Abwesenheit aus meiner Bastelecke versuche ich nun wieder, in Fahrt zu kommen – die Weihnachtskartenproduktion hängt hinterher. Nichts besser also, als sich mal wieder unter den Challenges umzutun. Bei Winter Wonderland sind in dieser Woche Candy Canes gefragt.

After a prolonged absence from my creative nook I am now trying to gain momentum again – I’m way behind with my Christmas cards. Nothing better than a challenge, I thought, and found out that Winter Wonderland is all about Candy Canes this week.
