Heute mal mit etwas mehr Ruhe. Meine Bastelecke hat mich wieder und ich merke, wie mich das etwas mehr in Balance bringt. Hoffentlich hält es an. Dem Blog habe ich auch mal schnell ein neues „Theme“ verpasst – nichts überwältigend anderes, aber schon kleine Veränderungen. Vielleicht ist euch schon die Bücherseite aufgefallen, die schon ein paar Wochen da ist.

Today I can post in a more laid-back fashion… today’s deadline is still hours away. I’m back in my creative nook and I already feel how that gets me back into balance bit by bit. I hope it lasts. I also chose a somehwat new „theme“ for the blog – nothing too mind-bogglingly different but a few little changes. I think it can still be recognized! Maybe you’ve noticed the books section that has been around for a few weeks already.

Einen neuen Follower gibt es auch, willkommen! Da fehlt noch einer bevor wieder gefeiert wird – das war ja angekündigt. Aber nun zur Challenge: die läuft bei CCAYR, wo es im Juni Vintage Christmas heißt. So rot geworden ist es glaube ich, weil es mir hier so kalt ist – da muss ich dann auf der mentalen Ebene nachhelfen.

Now welcome to a new follower! One more and we’ll get to celebrate again – that I had announced earlier. But now let’s get to the challenge: it’s CCAYR’s June challenge, Vintage Christmas. I think I went for all the reds because it’s so cold here – I try to counterbalance that on the mental level.

Die erste Etappe der Tour de France verfolge ich auch und sehe sehr oft Johannes Fröhlinger, der über weite Strecken das Peloton anführt(e). Und ich sehe: Korsika muss auf der Liste der Reiseziele ganz nach oben rutschen! Aber nun: genießt euer Wochenende!

I’m also following the first leg of the Tour de France and get to see Johannes Fröhlinger quite a lot – leading the peloton for quite a while. I’ve also taken note of the fact that Corsica needs to move way up on my list of vacation destinations! For now: enjoy your weekend!

Obwohl das Wetter heute ja noch seine schönen Seiten gezeigt hat, gibt es doch allgemein einigen Anlass zu Aktivitäten in den eigenen vier Wänden. So auch vor ein paar Tagen, wo ich eine Idee aus dem letzten Jahr aufgegriffen habe…

Even though the weather showed its nicer face this afternoon, it has recently basically been an invitation for indoor activities. Like a few days ago when I came back to an idea I first realized last year…

Und wo ich halt einmal dran war, habe ich gleich 15 Stück gemacht… Weihnachten kommt bestimmt 😉 Schönes Wochenende schonmal!

Heute Abend noch schnell eine Kreation für die ABC Christmas Challenge, die bei J wie „Jingle All The Way“ steht. Ich habe das Thema etwas Holzhammer-mäßig umgesetzt und das Licht für die Fotos war suboptimal… aber hier ist mein Beitrag:

Was für ein Wetter… und ich habe nachgegeben: die Heizung ist zwar im ganzen Haus aus, aber so gegen 17 Uhr habe ich meinen elektrischen Heizer angeschlossen. Ich habe offiziell den Memmenstatus erreicht. Aber ich habe eifrig gebastelt und für die Sparkles Christmas Challenges ist auch was dabei. Es dreht sich um die Lieblingsfarben des Fests. Und letztlich sind es bei mir dann doch rot und grün.

What ‚gorgeous‘ weather we have… and I gave in: the heating was turned off about a month ago but at about 5 pm I hooked up my little electric heater, just to take the edge off it. I’ve now officially reached wuss status. But I was busy in my creative nook and something turned out to meet the requirements at the Favorite Festive Colors challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenges. And when it comes down to it, red and green are my favorites.

Den kleinen Weihnachtsmann habe ich vor JAHREN schon gemacht – nach einer Vorlage aus irgendeinem Bastelbuch, an das ich mich nicht mehr erinnern kann. Beim Aufräumen diverser Schubladen habe ich ihn heute wiedergefunden und auch, wenn er etwas gelitten hatte (die Schneeflocke z.B. ist eine „Verkleidung“), wollte er dabei sein.

I had made the little Santa YEARS ago – found it in some book that I can’t remember anymore. I found him again today when I was going through some drawers and even though his age shows here and there (e.g. underneath the snowflake brad), he wanted to be part of something.

Also wie gesagt: das Wochenende war produktiv. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten war, läuft auch bei den Jingle Belles eine Challenge, „Merry & Bright“ – und wer mal eine Weihnachtskarte mit einem Flamingo gesehen haben will, der sollte sich mal hier umschauen. Von den Farben war ich wohl irgendwie inspiriert…

As I’ve said before: It’s been a creative weekend. It didn’t come as a surprise that there’s an on-going challenge over at the Jingle Belles as well, „Merry & Bright“. And if you’ve always wanted to see a Christmas card with a flamingo, have a look here. I guess I was inspired by the colors of that card…

Da bin ich dann doch immer wieder froh, dass es die Challenges gibt, die einen mal auf andere Fährten bringen – so ein helles grün hätte ich glaube ich selbst nie ausprobiert. Habt einen guten Start in die Woche!

It’s on occasions like this that I’m really happy that there are challenges out there that take me off the beaten track – I don’t think I would have thought of a light green like this on a Christmas card… ever. Have a good start into the week!
