Der Juni sieht seinen vierten Beitrag, yay! Und es ist mal wieder was kreatives. Ich war zur Hochzeit einer Freundin und Kollegin eingeladen und eine Karte zu kaufen war einfach keine Option. Was sich anhört, als hätte ich mich zwingen müssen, doch weit gefehlt. Es hat endlich mal wieder richtig Spaß gemacht.

June has its fourth post, yay! And this time it’s creative again. I was invited to the wedding of a friend and colleague and buying card just wasn’t an option. It sounds like I felt somehow forced but far from it. I finally had a really good time in my creative nook again.

Die Materialien waren alle vorhanden – den Schriftzug habe ich allerdings nicht selbst aus Draht gebogen, sondern von timklabim auf tauschticket.de eingetauscht. Das war der Knaller.

I had all the supplies – but I didn’t make the wire sentiment myself. I got it from timklabim on a German exchange platform, tauschticket.de. It was just perfect.

Ich hatte zwar nichts damit zu tun, aber es muss Erwähnung finden, wie wunderbar diese Hochzeit war. So viele liebevoll gestaltete Details, die Deko wunderschön… und dann noch eine Wahnsinnstorte, die eine (weitere) Kollegin gebacken hat. Ganz unten Himbeer-Zitrone mit eine Hauch Holunder, in der Mitte Schokolade und Heidelbeeren, oben auf besonderen Wunsch einen Sandkuchen. Abgesehen von lecker und an sich schön anzusehen, passte auch sie perfekt in die Deko.

I had nothing much to do with it all but I have to mention how wonderful this wedding was. So much love for detail, beautiful decorations… and then a breathtaking wedding cake, made by a(nother) colleague. The bottom layer was raspberry-lemon with a touch of elderberry, in the middle chocolate and blueberries and on top, as per special request, a Madeira cake. In addition to being delicious and gorgeous, it was a perfect match theme-wise.

Heute mal kein Weihnachtsthema – vielleicht habe ich die Grippeimpfung heute Morgen nicht vertragen? 😉 Aber schön war’s, mir für gute Freunde, die ich viel zu selten sehe, eine persönliche Hochzeitskarte zu überlegen.

Today is not about Christmas for a change – maybe I didn’t tolerate the flu shot I got this morning? 😉 But it was great fun to think of a very personal wedding card for good friends of mine that I don’t get to see nearly often enough.

Letzte Woche bat mich eine Kollegin, eine Hochzeitskarte zu machen und das ist dabei herausgekommen:

Last week a colleague asked me to make a wedding card and this is what I came up with:

Die großen Herzen gab es irgendwann mal im schwedischen Möbelhaus meines Vertrauens. Und Pailletten habe ich mittlerweile in so ziemlich allen Farben. Ich stelle die Karte bei der Sister Act Card Challenge ein. Doch damit nicht genug, ich habe mir direkt auch noch eine weitere Karte überlegt:

I found these large hearts at the well-known Swedish furniture store a while ago. And by now I have sequins in all colors of the rainbow and beyond. Anyhow, I will enter it at the Sister Act Card Challenge, where „anything goes“ as usual. But I came up with a second idea, too, once I was at it:

Ganz kurz vor meinem Urlaub habe ich einen Auftrag für Einladungskarten zum 85. Geburtstag meines Vaters erhalten und in einer ziemlichen Hauruck-Aktion noch ausgeführt. Keine großen Schnörkeleien sollten es sein… damit ist man bei mir ja auch ganz gut aufgehoben.

Shortly before my recent vacation I had received an order for invitations for my Dad’s 85th birthday which I came up with in just a few hours. It was supposed to be without frills… and that usually plays into my hands.

Die Karte ist auf dem Foto leicht gewellt, weil sie vorher noch durch den Drucker gerutscht ist – das Rundum-Sorglos-Paket sozusagen, Versand inklusive.

As you can see on the picture, the card is a bit wavy still as it went through the printer as well – a „comprehensive carefree package“, shipping inlcuded.

„Basteln“ war immer schon wichtig, um mich in Balance zu halten. Und ich komme in diesem Jahr viel, viel, viel zu wenig dazu. Umso besser, dass ich einige Aufträge erhalten habe und mich dann auch hinsetze, und über diese Dinge nachdenke und so die Gedanken mal ab des täglichen Wahnsinns, der dabei ist, mich zu verschlucken, schweifen lasse. So auch für diese Karte, für eine 95-jährige Jubilantin, die sich darüber beschwert hat, dass Geburtstagskarten alle gleich aussehen und die Orchideen liebt.

My creative hobbies have always been important to keep me balanced. And this year has been a great challenge because I really don’t get to it only a fraction as much as I would like (or NEED) to. So I really liked to get a few orders for particular things because that makes me sit down and let my thoughts wander to things other than the daily madness that has been threatening to engulf me. One of them was this card for the 95th birthday of a lady who had complained about birthday cards all being alike and who loves orchids.

Ich habe noch nicht gehört, ob sie ihr gefallen hat… aber ich dachte so bei mir, dass sie vielleicht nicht nur Orchideenliebhabern eine Freude machen würde. Genießt den Sonntag – ich freue mich schon auf den Tatort – nicht nur in Ermangelung der Möglichkeit, live bei der ersten Folge der fünften Staffel Downton Abbey dabei sein zu können (vor ein paar Tagen habe ich kurz überlegt, spontan ins weiterhin Vereinigte Königreich überzusiedeln)…

I haven’t heard yet whether she liked it… but I was thinking to myself that it might not only please an orchid lover. Enjoy your Sunday – I’m already very much looking forward to tonight’s episode of Tatort… and not only for want of access to Downton Abbey 5/1 (I had briefly considered a spontaneous relocation to the still United Kingdom a few days ago)…

2014 war bislang kein gutes Jahr für mein kreatives Hobby. Zu selten war Zeit bzw. Ruhe dafür. Aber nun kamen zwei Dinge zusammen: der Auftrag, eine Geburtstagskarte für eine bald 95-jährige zu machen und die laufende Challenge bei City Crafter, auf die ich bei Ros aufmerksam wurde. Es heißt: mache ein Projekt, auf dem wenigstens eine Rose zu sehen ist. Mit zweien habe ich mich ja fast selbst übertroffen 😉

2014 has not been a good year for crafting so far. Only rarely did I have time or the inclination to be creative. But now the constellation was favorable: I was asked to make a birthday card for a soon-to-be 95-year old and there is the current challenge over at City Crafter which I came across on Ros‘ blog and which asks for at least one rose to be used on your project. So I basically outdid myself using two 😉

Sie gefällt mir schon ganz gut, aber in der Summe bin ich glaube ich noch auf der Suche nach der perfekten Karte… Wie auch immer, schaut euch mal um bei City Crafter – die Karten des Design Teams sind alle herausragend.

I’m quite happy with the result but in all I think I’m still looking for the perfect card… Anyhow, have a look at the cards of the Design Team over at City Crafter, all of them fabulous creations.

Es läuft noch etwas langsam an, das kreative Jahr 2014… aber ich habe auf Ros‘ Blog eine wunderschöne Inspiration gefunden – diese Geburtstagskarte ist ihr nachempfunden.

I’ve been on a very slow creative road so far in 2014… But I’ve found a wonderful inspiration on Ros‘ blog – and this birthday card is based on that.

Der Clou kommt, wenn man erkennt, dass da nicht nur „Kram“ in dem kleinen Umschlag ist und dass man den öffnen und den Inhalt entwirren sollte:

It gets really interesting once you realize that there isn’t only some sort of chaos inside that little envelope but that it should be opened and the chaos should – quite literally – be straightened out:

An dem happy könnte ich wohl noch arbeiten, aber diese Idee gefällt mir wirklich gut! Danke, Ros!

I guess I have to work a little on the happy part but I really like this idea! Thank you, Ros!

Diese Karte musste lange auf ihre Veröffentlichung warten… denn die Empfängerin ist auch ein Follower dieses Blogs! Aber jetzt, da sie versandt und angekommen ist, besteht ja kein Risiko mehr…

This card has been waiting a long time for its publication… that was due to the fact that its recipient is a follower of this blog! But now that it’s been sent and received, I can go ahead…

Der Digi-Stempel ist „Moose In A Box“ von Eureka! Stamps – und wo der herkommt, gab’s noch viele andere… Die Geburtstags-Challenge bei den UnstampaBelles läuft noch, also werde ich die Karte dort als zweite Teilnahme einstellen. Update: Werde ich natürlich NICHT… es ist ein Stempel – und man darf ja alles, bei den UnstampaBelles, nur keine Stempel benutzen… Die Hitze… die Hitze.

The digi stamp is „Moose In A Box“ from Eureka! Stamps – and there are many more where this came from… Anyhow, as the Birthday Challenge is still going on over at the UnstampaBelles I will link it up there as my second entry. Update: I will of course NOT do that… as you can work with just about anything at the Unstampabelles but stamps… The heat. I can only put it down to the heat.
