Das erste Adventswochenende entwickelt sich zum „Nikolausmarkt in Beuel“-Wochenende. Jetzt schon im dritten Jahr hat es mich dorthin verschlagen und wie immer war ich hin und weg von diversen kreativen Holzerzeugnissen des bekannten Kombo-Stands.
The first weekend in advent develops into the „St. Nicolas Market in Beuel“-weekend. It’s been the third consecutive year that I went there and as usual I was blown away by these two stalls.
Dieser Stern ist NICHT eingefärbt, der gelb-orange-braune Farbverlauf ist die natürliche Holzfärbung. Da schon war mir klar, dass ich mich wirklich bald mal um Wohnraum mit Garten bemühen muss… Und natürlich der Elch. Aber Elche gab es in ganz, ganz vielen Ausführungen (könnte mein Interesse an diesem Stand auch damit in Zusammenhang stehen?!).
This star is not artificially colored – this yellow-orange-brown color gradient is pure nature. I really felt the urge to find a place with a garden… I currently don’t even have a balcony! And the moose of course. There were moose in more guises than one (this could be why I have a heightenend interest in this stand, huh?!).
Aber dann diese Bäume… ich könnte vielleicht einen an dem nie bewegten Teil der Flügeltür zu meiner Wohnung anbringen…? Nein?
And then these trees… maybe I could mount one on that second part of the double wing door leading to my apartment…? No?
Jeder schien sich für diese Spielzeuge zu interessieren und folgte der Aufforderung „Bitte ziehen!“ – mit Liebe gemacht!
Virtually everybody was interested in these toys and followed the invitation „Please pull!“ – made with love!
Und dann natürlich noch die netten Verkäufer – immer zu einem Schwätzchen aufgelegt! Also, wer noch Zeit und Lust hat: am morgigen ersten Advent hat der Markt noch von 11-20 Uhr geöffnet. Essen kann man da auch gut… die Reibekuchen mit Lachs und Creme fraiche waren das Experiment wert.
And then of course the friendly sellers – always ready to chat! So if you happen to be in the area: it opens again tomorrow December 1 from 11am to 8 pm. Food there is good, too… the potato patties with smoked salmon and sour cream were worth trying.
Zum Abschluss noch VIELEN DANK an alle, die an meiner Adventsaktion zugunsten des Elisabeth-Hospiz in Lohmar teilgenommen haben – oder es versucht haben. Innerhalb von vier oder fünf Stunden waren alle 50 Beutel verkauft… ich hätte sicher die doppelte Menge losschlagen können. Sogar die teilweise noch leeren Beutel wurden gekauft… das bringt mich auf Gedanken für nächstes Jahr! Sobald auch alle Überweisungen da sind, teile ich euch das Spendenergebnis mit. Und damit wünsche ich euch einen schönen ersten Advent!
Now let me thank you all who participated in my advent fundraiser for the Elisabeth Hospice in Lohmar – or tried to participate. All 50 bags were sold within four or five hours… I think I could easily have sold twice that amount. Even the empty bags I wanted to fill in a second baking event were bought… that gives me ideas for next year! As soon as all transfers are in, I’ll let you know how much was raised exactly. And with this I wish you all a great first advent.
