In den letzten Wochen gab es viele Dinge, über die ich gerne kurz berichtet hätte, aber die Umstände so allgemein haben es nicht zugelassen. Da war das tolle Wochenende mit 30 Grad, an dem man im April schon in kurzer Hose und T-Shirt bis zum Sonnenuntergang abends grillend draußen saß. Oder die Kirschblüte in der Bonner Altstadt, ein großes Event. Ja, im Ernst – vergesst Japan, kommt nach Bonn! Fühlt sich auch schon fast wie Tokio an…

There have been a number of these little things that I would have liked to let you know about over the past few weeks but circumstances kept me from it. There was that fantastic weekend in April, 30°C/86°F, where I opened the barbecue season, sitting outside in shorts and t-shirt until the sun went down. Or the cherries in bloom in Bonn’s old city, a big event. Seriously – forget Japan, come to Bonn! It even feels like Tokyo at times…

Was mich heute aber letztlich überzeugt hat, meine Prioritäten nochmal klar zu ziehen, war ein Maibaum. Ich werde nicht nochmal auf die ganze „Maibaum-Sache“ eingehen, das kann man hier nachlesen – aber ein so ausgefallenes Maibaum-Schild habe ich noch nie gesehen. Die Elisa hat offenbar einen Künstler am Start:

Die neu gesetzten Prioritäten beinhalteten italienisches Eis und einen spontanen Besuch im Botanischen Garten. Ich hatte die Rhododendren für dieses Jahr schon abgeschrieben. Morgen geht es auf eine zweiwöchige Reise und danach wird die Pracht vorüber sein. Doch dann ging mir auf: Donnerstag. Öffnungszeiten bis 20 Uhr! Also los. Und was hat sich das gelohnt!

My recalibrated priorities included Italian ice-cream and a spontaneous visit at the Botanical Gardens. I had sort of made peace with the fact that I wouldn’t be seeing the rhodies this year. I’m off on a two-week trip tomorrow and once I return, they will largely be gone. But then I realized: Thursday. Open until 8 p.m.! Let’s go! And how spectacular it was!

Leider ist der Koffer immer noch nicht gepackt, aber jetzt bleibt keine Ausrede mehr übrig… auf bald!
