Budapest ist eine Bäderstadt und sitzt auf einer, je nach INFORMATIONSquelle unterschiedlichen Anzahl an MINERALISCHEN Quellen auf beiden Seiten der Donau. Ich bin ja nicht so ein Freund davon – was mich aber nicht davon abgehalten hat, am Wochenende zumindest im Traditionshaus Hotel Gellért unterzukommen. Und schon der Eingangsbereich zum Bad ließ keine Fragen offen.

Budapest is known for its spas on both sides of the Danube. Depending on the source of information, it sits atop a varying number of mineral springs. I’m not much into all that – but that didn’t keep from relocating to the famous Hotel Gellért for the weekend. The foyer to the spa was very telling already.

Das Hotel hat sicher auch wunderschöne Zimmer, aber bei mir war wunderschön nur das Frühstück im großen Restaurant, mit Blick auf die glitzernde Donau. Das Zimmer, das ich über einen „Special Deal“ gebucht hatte, war jenseits jeder Beschreibung. Der „deal“ war alles andere als „special“… letztlich Abzocke. Da nutzen dann auch fantastische Glaskuppeln nicht viel.

I’m sure the hotel also has wonderful rooms but during my stay the only wonderful thing was breakfast in the large restaurant, looking across the glittering Danube. I had booked the room as part of a „special deal“ – it really was beyond description. The „deal“ was anything but „special“… it was a rip-off. And fantastic glass cupolas can’t make up for that in the end.

Und so bin ich nach Abstellen des Gepäcks schnell wieder raus in die Sonne, zurück über die Brücke zur Pester Seite…

And so I just quickly dropped of my luggage and headed back to the Pest side of the Danube by way of this beautiful bridge…

…um mich unter anderem an diesen kleinen Kerl ranzuschleichen…

…to sneak up on this little guy (among other things)…

…und zu denken, dass hier wohl jeder außer mir auf dem Bädertrip ist!

… and to realize that apparently everybody else loves the spa experience here!

Den jungen Herrn (?) werde ich dann mal als Beitrag zum Stichwort „Animals“ bei Our Beautiful World diese Woche nutzen. Da muss ich gleich noch genauer hinsehen… da hat doch jemand einen Elch eingestellt!
