An diesem Wochenende habe ich ein bisschen den Speicher ausgemistet (noch ungefähr 7 Wochenenden und er könnte leer sein…) und es ist doch immer wieder erstaunlich, was einem alles so in die Hände fällt. In diesem Fall genauer gesagt in die Hände meiner Schwester.

I was putting in some more time clearing the attic this weekend (about 7 more weekends and the job could be done…) and I was amazed what things you find. In this case, my sister actually found it.

Es war ihr Mathematikbuch aus dem 5. Schuljahr, herausgegeben 1986. Dort findet sich auf Seite 155 – also immerhin gegen Ende des 5. Schuljahres – folgende Aufgabe:

Aufgabe 6
Bestimmte Zigaretten enthalten 12 mg gesundheitsschädlichen Teer.
a) Wieviel mg Teer enthält eine Packung Zigaretten (21 Stück)?
b) Wie viele Zigaretten enthalten zusammen 3 g (also 3 000 mg) Teer? Wie viele Packungen sind das?
c) Schau auf der Banderole einer Zigarettenpackung nach, wieviel mg Teer eine Zigarette der Packung hat. Wieviel mg Teer enthalten die Zigaretten der Packung zusammen?

It was her maths textbook from 5th grade, published in 1986. On page 155 – at least towards the end of 5th grade – you can find the following word problem:

Exercise 6
Certain cigarettes contain 12 mg of tar which is harmful to health.
a) How many mg of tar does one package contain (21 cigarettes)?
b) How many cigarettes add up to contain 3 g (in other words: 3,000 mg) of tar? And that’s how many packages?
c) Check the revenue seal of a pack of cigarettes to find out how much tar one cigarette contains. How much tar do all cigarettes of that package contain combined?

Da ich dieses Buch nicht beutzt habe und nun Nichtraucher bin und meine Schwester raucht, ist alles klar: das Mathebuch war schuld. 😉 Einen schönen Sonntagabend wünscht
