Fußball und anderes / Soccer and others

Man erlebt immer wieder ganz erstaunliche Dinge. Und manchmal regt man sich dann auf. So auch wieder gestern im Supermarkt. Erfreut stellte ich fest, dass es wieder mal „Fußballbildchen“ in bestimmten Schokoriegeln gibt. „Oh super,“ denke ich, „bald ist ja auch Frauenfußball-WM in Deutschland!“ Kaufe aus Solidarität trotz Diät-Wettkampf zwei – nur, um dann festzustellen, dass es irgendwelche hinterbänklerischen, gegelten Bundeliga-Profis sind! Ich bin ja nicht gerade der heißeste Verehrer des Frauenfußballs, aber diese Ignoranz ist unglaublich. Auch wenn man mich sonst nicht so dafür begeistern kann (aber für die Bundesliga ebensowenig!), so wird doch, wenn das Turnier erstmal läuft, wieder der wild schreiende Patriot aus mir hervorbrechen! Jawoll!! Allerspätestens am 17. Juli zum Endspiel in Frankfurt, da bin ich nämlich dabei. So!

Sometimes there are these strange things happening, like yesterday when I was grocery shopping. I was excited to see that there are „soccer pictures“ included with certain chocolate bars again. „Oh great,“ I thought „soon there’ll be the women’s soccer world cup in Germany.“ And then, being all solidarity, I buy two of them – despite the dietary competition that I am in… only to find that they are of some unknown Bundesliga pros with greasily styled hairdos! I’m certainly not one of the most ardent fans of women’s soccer but the ignorance involved here is unspeakable. I don’t usually get excited about it (but neither do I when it comes to Bundesliga!) but I know that once the championship has started the dormant wildly cheering patriot will erupt again! At the very latest on July 17 when I will be present at Frankfurt stadium to watch the final! So there!

Aber eigentlich wollte ich doch was ganz anderes berichten! Ich habe eine neue Weihnachtskarten-Challenge gefunden 🙂 Bei Bah!Humbug! gibt’s auch jede Woche in neues Thema… oh, hört es denn nie auf?? Diese Woche ist man inspiriert von Jingle Bells – also vor allem Glöckchen sollen in der Kreation auftauchen.

Anyway, I was going to tell you something completely different! I’ve found another Christmas Card Challenge 🙂 Does it ever stop?? There’s a new one at Bah! Humbug!every week and this week’s is inspired by Jingle Bells – so the focus is on bells.

Und? Habt ihr die Glöckchen schon gesehen?? Sie klingeln auch…
So? Have you seen the bells yet?? They do tinkle…

May Challenge at CCAYR

Im Mai ging bzw. geht es bei CCAYR ja noch ein paar Tage darum fünf Weihnachtskarten zu basteln, die in ihrer Aufteilung halbwegs einem vorgegebenen Muster entsprechen, siehe zur linken. Es war viel, viel schwieriger, als ich jemals gedacht hätte… Aber nun sind sie vollbracht – für mein Gefühl „kleben“ sie zu sehr an der Vorlage:

The May Challenge at CCAYR was to create five Christmas cards along the sketch to the left. That turned out to be a whole lot more difficult than I had imagined… Here’s the result – to my eye they try to stick to the sketch too much:


Diese Schneemannkarte hatte ich hier bereits Anfang des Monats veröffentlicht, da sie auch an einem anderen Wettbewerb teilgenommen hat.
I had published this snowman card here earlier this month already as it was an entry into a second challenge as well.

J is for Joy Fold Card

Ich hatte gehofft, heute würde es wie vorhergesagt ordentlich regnen und gewittern – es wäre dann irgendwie besser zu argumentieren gewesen, dass man den Tag mehr oder weniger in der Wohnung verbringt. Aber nun ja… Jedenfalls: was für eine coole Sache bei ABC Christmas Challenge! Zuerst war ich nicht angetan… quadratisch mal wieder… und irgendwie und überhaupt. Eine kleinere Karte steckt in der größeren und im Optimalfall gibt es eine Art Überraschung, wenn man sie aufklappt. Das ist meine erste (!) Kreation zu diesem Thema:

I was hoping for the forecast rains and thunderstorms to come – it would have felt more appropriate to spend most of the day in my apartment. Well… Anyway: what a cool thing over at ABC Christmas Challenge! I wasn’t really taken at first… a square again and then… everything somehow. A smaller card is tucked into a larger card and if all works well there is sort of a surprise when you open it. This is my first (!) creation for this challenge:

Und dann hatte es mich gepackt. Eine Idee an der anderen – wenn ich auch bislang erst eine weitere umgesetzt habe. Wäre ich etwas schneller gewesen, wäre sie auch noch gut Winter Wonderland untergekommen, wo es letzte Woche darum ging, das Thema „Geschenk“ zu verarbeiten. Geschenke trägt der Santa und es ist innen dann ein Geschenk für den Adressaten: ein Schneemann-Ornament.

And then I was hooked. One idea following the other – though I have only realized one more yet. Had I been a little faster on this I could also have entered it in last week’s challenge at Winter Wonderland where „present“ was supposed to be part of the creation. Santa is carrying presents and there’s an actual present for the recipient inside: a snowman ornament.

Und nun kommt doch tatsächlich auch noch die Sonne raus… dann werde ich wohl doch mal noch ein paar Schritte vor die Tür machen! Bis bald!

The Colors of Christmas

Hatte ich euch schon in dem Glauben gewiegt, dass der Weihnachtskartenwahnsinn ein Ende gefunden hat? Bei wunderbaren 30 Grad ist es ja auch nicht das naheliegenste. Aber nein! Es gab eine neue Aufgabe bei der Winter Wonderland Challenge, die da hieß, eine Karte in Weihnachtsfarben zu gestalten. Ich habe mich für die rot-grün Palette entschieden und sie auch gleich nach dem diesen Monat bei CCAYR gültigen Muster angefertigt.

Did I lead you to believe that the Christmas card frenzy had come to an end? I admit, it doesn’t sound natural while it’s 30°C outside. But no! There was a new challenge at Winter Wonderland which asked for cards to be made using Christmas colors. I decided on the red-green palette and made it so it also qualifies for this month’s CCAYR challenge.

Zwei auf einen Streich / Two in one

Kreativität unter der Woche! Das ist ein gutes Zeichen! Die Aufgabe des Monats bei CCAYR dreht sich um den „Sketch“ zur linken, der die Aufteilung inspirieren soll. Dafür habe ich nun EINE von fünft zu bastelnden Karten gemacht – die ich auch gleichzeitig in den Wettbewerb bei Sparkles Forum Christmas Challenge / SFCC gebe. Dort soll die Karte entweder Efeu oder Stechpalme (oder beides) enthalten… bei mir ist es ein kleiner Zweig Stechpalme am Hut des Schneemanns!

Mid-week creativity! That’s a good sign! The May challenge at CCAYR is to make five cards inspired by the sketch above. I’ve made one tonight that I will also enter into another challenge at Sparkles Forum Christmas Challenge /SFCC. They ask for cards that include either ivy or holly… or both. Check out what the little snowman has tucked onto its hat!

Snow much fun

Es geht weiter. Und das, obwohl ich mich gestern diversen Ersatzhandlungen hingegeben habe. Aber ich kenne ja noch so die eine oder andere, die einer Sucht verfallen ist… mal sehen, ob sie im Urlaub davon loskam 😉 Wie auch immer: natürlich habe ich noch einen Weihnachtsbastelblog gefunden, die Winter Wonderland Challenge. Thema: „Snow much fun“, nicht zu übersetzen. Hier geht es nicht nur um Karten, das Thema kann wie auch immer umgesetzt werden. Aber bei mir ist es wieder eine Karte geworden!

It’s not over yet, despite the fact that I’ve indulged in several redirection activities but of course to no avail. But I do know someone else who has become addicted to something and wonder whether she managed to rid herself of the habit during her vacation 😉 Anyway, of course I’ve come across another Christmas blog, Winter Wonderland Challenge. Subject: „Snow much fun“. It’s not necessarily about cards, it could be anything. But of course it turned out to be another card for me!

Wieder Schneemänner, aber schon insofern für mich ungewöhnlich, als es eine quadratische Karte ist. Die mache ich nicht so gerne, weil das Porto dafür in Deutschland so irrsinnig hoch ist. Aber vielleicht hat die Post damit ja auch irgendwann mal ein Einsehen.

Again it’s snowmen but it’s sort of unusual for me as I’ve used a square card. I don’t like doing those too much as the postage for those is outrageous in Germany. Who knows maybe the postal service relents one of those days.

I… is for Indigo, Ice and Inspiration

Einmal in den Wahn geraten, kommt man da ganz schwer wieder raus. Das schlimmste: ich bin von der Bastelecke an den Wohnzimmertisch gezogen und habe jetzt in zwei Räumen kreatives Chaos. Gestern habe ich dann noch eine Aufgabe gefunden, und zwar die aktuelle der ABC Christmas Challenge. Da geht man nach dem ABC und hat alle zwei Wochen eine neue Aufgabe. Wir sind schon bei „i“ angelangt. Die Aufgabe: eine Karte unter dem Motto „indigo und Eis“ basteln.

Once the Christmas maniac in me surfaces it’s hard to suppress it again. And the worst of it: I moved from my creative nook to the living room table and now face a creative chaos in two rooms. And yesterday I found another challenge, the current one at ABC Christmas Challenge. It goes along the ABC and there’s a new challenge every fortnight. It’s now „i“ already. The challenge: create a card containing „indigo and ice“.

Die Idee für diese Karten oben ist nicht neu – im vergangenen Jahr habe ich ähnliche in rot-grün gemacht.

The idea for the cards above is not new – I made similar ones in red and green last year.

Und so habe ich halt noch was gebastelt… Und es könnte sein, dass heute noch was dazu kommt 🙂 Übrigens: checkt auch den Eintrag zur CCAYR Challenge – da gibt’s ein Freebie zu gewinnen.

Der Party-Elch / The party moose

Es sollte mittlerweile allen klar sein: ich habe so eine klitzekleine Vorliebe für Elche. Das wissen viele auch. Und so hatten ganz viele Überraschungen was mit Elchen zu tun. Der Elch in Glitzerweste zur linken macht sich sehr gut in meinem Baum… Und ich werde das Gefühl nicht los, dass sich da jemand einen ganz bestimmten Laden angesehen hat…

It should be self-evident by now: I have a little knack for mooses. And many people know about that. And that’s why many of the Christmas‘ surprises had something to do with mooses. The moose clad in the glitter vest to the left looks gorgeous on my tree… And I can’t help thinking that someone had a closer look at a certain store…

Jetzt geht Weihnachten zuende… die erste weiße Weihnacht seit langem – vielleicht sogar die ersten, an die ich mich überhaupt erinnere? Aber ich glaube, ich wiederhole mich 🙂 Viel Freude noch!

Christmas will soon be over… the first white Christmas in a long time – maybe the first that I can recall? But I might be repeating myself 🙂 Enjoy!

Überraschungen / Surprises

Der Heilige Abend ist vorbei, es ist nach Mitternacht. Ich bin total erschöpft. Aber es ist die erste weiße Weihnacht in vielen Jahren – vielleicht die erste, an die ich mich überhaupt erinnern kann? So viele Leute haben sich so viele Gedanken gemacht und mich mit wunderschönen Dingen überrascht zu diesem Fest – vielen Dank euch allen! In der letzten Stunde war es mir so möglich „runter zu kommen“.

Christmas Eve is over, it’s past midnight. I’m totally spent. But it is the first white Christmas in many years – maybe the first one I can remember? So many people have thought of so many nice surprises for me this year – many thanks to all of you! By way of unwrapping and reading this past hour I’ve found a way of „chilling“.

Und stellvertretend für alle möchte ich euch Dennis und Dorothy vorstellen, die heute ihren Weg zu mir gefunden haben…

Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich Elche auf Urlaub in Hawai’i sehe – und liebe die verspielten kleinen Details.
