Was für ein Wochenende! Besuch aus Kanada, Kleopatra-Ausstellung, Currywurst mit Pommes, Kuchen gebacken, Marmelade gekocht… und ENDLICH wieder gebastelt. Anderthalb Monate ist es her – soweit darf es nicht mehr kommen! Und was merke ich? Ich knüpfe da an, wo ich aufgehört habe: mit dem Digi-Stamp Winterbench von Bugaboo. Ich mag ihn wohl also wirklich!
What a weekend! A visitor from Canada, Cleopatra Exhibition, a very German „curry sausage with French fries“, baked a cake, made jam… and FINALLY got down to make cards again. It’s been a month and a half – I hope that never happens again! And guess what? I picked up where I left off: with the „Winter Bench“ digi stamp from Bugaboo. I guess it’s safe to say that I like it!
Diese Karte ist für die laufende Challenge „P is for…“ bei ABC Christmas Challenges. Da kann man sich für alle mögliche entscheiden, was mit „P“ beginnt. Am liebsten hätte ich mich ja für P wie Palmolive entschieden… da bin ich noch ganz in der Kleopatra-Ausstellung, bei der es um die Faszination dieser Dame geht und wie sie über die Jahrhunderte dargestellt wurde. Zumeist im Moment ihres Selbstmords (?) durch Schlangenbiss, im Barock beliebt vor europäischer Kulisse. Aber die Verwendung in der Palmolive-Werbung gefiel mir am besten… noch vor den Sammelkarten.
I will enter this card into the current challenge at ABC Christmas Challenges: „P is for….“ The idea is to choose anything that starts with a „P“. I was ready to go for P is for Palmolive… That was an aspect of the Cleopatra Exhibition that I liked a lot… Palmolive commercials featuring Cleopatra. The exhibition is about the fascination with Cleopatra throughout the centuries. Usually she was portrayed in the moment of her suicide (?) by snake bite, preferably in rather European surroundings during the baroque era. But I liked the Palmolive commercials most… even more than the trading cards.
Und dann – auch noch an diesem Wochenende! – gab es vollkommen unerwartete „Happy Mail“. Und zwar von meiner chinesischen Brieffreundin Yashan. Ja, Brieffreundin. Wie in Briefmarke, Briefträger und Briefkasten. Immer wieder schön. Die hat gerade einen 8-monatigen Work & Travel-Aufenthalt in Neuseeland beendet und mir am letzten Tag noch ein gelungenes Souvenir geschickt (war auch nur 19 Tage unterwegs):
And then – also on this very weekend! – I received completely unexpected happy mail. My Chinese penfriend Yashan sent it. Yes, penfriend. As in stamp, mailman and mailbox. Always wonderful. Anyhow, she had just finished an 8-month work & travel stay in New Zealand and had posted this very appropriate souvenir on her very last day (and it only travelled for 19 days):
Und jetzt gerade kam noch eine Freundin und brachte 2 Liter „filmjölk“ vorbei, Erdbeer… himmlisch! Ich hoffe, das setzt sich in der neuen Woche fort – und wünsche euch einen guten Start!
And just a few moments ago a friend dropped by, just returned from Sweden, to bring 2 liters of „filmjölk“, strawberry flavor… bliss! I sure hope the new week will be just as good as this weekend’s been – have a good start into the week!
