Es war eine weitere Woche zum Weglaufen – aber heute noch ein schneller Beitrag bei Sparkles Christmas Challenge. Diesen Monat kann man machen, was man will – nur keine Karte.

It was another week I’d rather erase from memory – but let me show you my entry over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge which this month is „Anything but a card.“

Ich habe angefangen an meiner Adventsaktion 2013 zugunsten des Elisabeth Hospiz in Lohmar zu arbeiten. Einiges steht noch aus, aber der Prototyp ist fertig.

I have started work on this year’s fundraiser for the Elisabeth hospice in Lohmar. There’s a lot left to be done but my prototype is ready.

Füllung könnte sein… Tee… Pralinen… Plätzchen… Und weil es morgen ganz früh nach Rügen geht, verabschiede ich mich auch schon wieder!! Schönes Wochenende!

They could be filled with… tea… chocolates… cookies… As I’ll be off to (the island of) Rügen tomorrow morning before the crack of dawn, I have to go!! Have a nice weekend!

Auch wenn der UnstampaBelles Blog kein Weihnachtsblog ist, so war es mir doch wieder weihnachtlich zumute. Gesticktes muss das Projekt im Angebot haben – und ich habe mich mal wieder über die letztjährige Karte von Pauline aus Yorkshire hergemacht… das Stickwerk also ist von ihr.

Even though the UnstampaBelles challenge blog is not a Christmas blog, I felt Christmassy again. Their current challenge is „Stitching“ – and as has become a habit I have recycled a stitched image from my friend Pauline from Yorkshire.

Und nach Feierabend gab es heute dann doch noch gute Nachrichten: meine „Stars and Stripes“ Kreation mit dem Schneemann-bauenden Rotkehlchen hat es unter die Top Picks bei Holly Jolly geschafft. Danke, Judy!

And after work I finally got some good news today: my „stars and stripes“ creation for the last Holly Jolly challenge won another top pick! Thanks, Judy!

Vor dem Sonntagskrimi schnell noch eine Premiere: der erste Tag mit zwei Beiträgen! Nach einem Vormittag des Putz- und Nachmittag des kreativen Wahnsinns fiel mir gerade noch rechtzeitig auf, dass die Deadline bei Holly Jolly morgen früh um 6 Uhr ist… Stars and Stripes sind angesagt.

And another first: a second post on the same day! I was very disciplined today, spent the morning cleaning and the afternoon creating – and noticed just in time that the deadline for submissions over at Holly Jolly for their Stars and Stripes challenge is tomorrow at 6am (my time). I hope to still be asleep then 😉

Auch selten bei mir (wegen der hohen Portokosten): eine quadratische Karte, aber rechteckig kam das Bild, ein Digi-Stamp von Bugaboo, nicht richtig zur Geltung. Die Karte hat Spaß gebracht! Nun zum Krimi!

Another rare thing on this blog (due to the high postage): a square card. But I just couldn’t get this image, a digi stamp from Bugaboo, to work on a rectangular one. But I had a lot of fun making this one! And now for my Sunday night crime show!

Nach meinem „Stocking“ hatte ich weiter Spaß bei der Challenge der Jingle Belles, bei der es um Karten in ungewöhnlicher Form geht. Und dieses Mal habe ich eine Karte, die ich vor einiger Zeit mit meinem Gewinn bei den UnstampaBelles erhalten habe, weihnachtlich neu interpretiert.

The Jingle Belles‘ challenge asking for cards in unsual shapes is still on-going. As I don’t feel like a stocking anymore (I had a good laugh at that, Gail!) I decided to re-interpret a card I got along with my win from the UnstamapaBelles last year.

Und wenn man diesen Stern dann aufklappt, sieht das so aus:

Meine Winterreifen sind drauf – weniger, weil ich denke sie bald zu brauchen, sondern eher, weil sich vor November keine weitere Gelegenheit dazu ergeben hätte. Und außerdem: von O(ktober) bis O(stern) – nicht vergessen! Wie auch immer: vielleicht ist es deswegen ein Schneemann-Motiv geworden für die Challenge bei Holly Jolly, wo dieses Mal alles erlaubt ist, außer gemustertem Papier.

I’ve had my winter tires put on the car – not because I think I might need them any time soon but because I wouldn’t get to it before November now. Moreover, people here are always told: „from October to Easter.“ So there. Anyhow, maybe that’s why a snowman was on my mind when I faced this week’s challenge over at Holly Jolly. Anything goes – just not patterned paper.

Es ist wieder diese Jahreszeit, in der das mit natürlichem Licht nach Feierabend schwierig wird… sorry für die Bildqualität. Nun denn, genießt euren Sonntagabend und startet gut in die neue Woche.

„Komm in Form für die Feiertage“ ist das Motto bei den Jingle Belles, aber es geht nicht um Gewichtsverlust. Vielmehr ist die Herausforderung, eine Karte zu gestalten, die nicht quadratisch oder rechteckig ist. Mir war es nach einem „stocking“… und irgendwann brauche ich mal einen offenen Kamin, um auch echte davor aufhängen zu können…

„Shape up for the holidays“ is this fortnight’s motto over at the Jingle Belles, but it’s not about weight loss. The challenge is to create a card that is not square or rectangular. I felt like going for a stocking… and one of these days I need to have a fireplace at which to hang the real ones, too…

Alles so furchtbar aufregend heute! Feiertag, ein Platz unter den ersten drei bei Winter Wonderland mit der Karte zu Holly and Ivy, heute startet ein neuer Weihnachtsblog, der World Card Making Day steht am 5.10.2013 ins Haus… und dank des Feiertags ziehe ich diesen 2 Tage vor!

Oh, the excitement! National holiday, a top three at Winter Wonderland’s Holly and Ivy challenge last week, a new Christmas Challenge blog will start today and World Card Making Day is just around the corner on October 5, 2013… thanks to the holiday today, I just moved it up two days!

Mit Winter Wonderland habe ich angefangen, und damit geht es weiter. Diese Woche gibt es eine Photo Inspiration: die Krippenszene links. Ich habe mich von den Schafen inspirieren lassen, die mir nach dem Trip nach Yorkshire im Mai sehr ans Herz gewachsen sind. Und wenn man nun erinnerungshalber in regelmäßigen Abständen niedliche Schaf-Postkarten aus Yorkshire erhält, bleiben sie auch präsent. Aber keine Sorge: sie sind nicht die neuen Elche!

I started out with Winter Wonderland and continue down that lane. They have a photo inspiration this week: the nativity scene above. I was inspired by the sheep that I really came to like during our trip to Yorkshire this past May. Surprisingly, the cute sheep cards that continue to reach me from our firends in Yorkshire don’t change that a bit. But make no mistake: they are not the new moose!

Der Digi Stamp (inkl. des Texts) ist Teil eines Pakets von der Doodle Pantry. Dazu gehört auch Papier zum selbst ausdrucken. Aber soweit bin ich noch nicht… Und nun auf zu mehr Karten! Einen schönen Feiertag euch allen!

Knöpfe sind gefragt bei Holly Jolly in dieser Woche. Das Blumenkorb-Motiv habe ich dieses Jahr schonmal verwendet, aber doch in einer ganz anderen Form. Nun mit Knöpfen!

One or more buttons should be on our cards this week over at Holly Jolly. I have used this flower basket image before this year but in quite a different way. Now with buttons!

„Holly and Ivy“ heißt es diese Woche bei Winter Wonderland, also „Ilex und Efeu“. Es wurde von einigen schon als Ilex ODER Efeu interpretiert – dem schließe ich mich an und habe mich auf Ilex eingeschossen.

This week’s challenge over at Winter Wonderland is about „Holly and Ivy“. As even some DT members interpreted this as holly OR ivy, I went along… and made up my mind for holly.

Die Karte war mal wieder Fleißarbeit – jedes Blatt einzeln aufgeklebt. Und wenn der Hintergrund tatsächlich aussieht wie Wand, dann könnte es daran liegen, dass ich Tapete verwendet habe. Das kleine gestickte Deckchen schien mir passend… hat die Oma meiner schwedischen Brieffreundin vor mehr als 20 Jahren gemacht – zeitlos schön.

This card was a matter of patience again – every leaf was glued on separately. And if you feel the backgound somehow looks like a wall that might be because I used real wallpaper. The little embroidered doily was made by my Swedish penpal’s Grandma more than 20 years ago – of timeless beauty.

„Vintage“ ist ja noch schwieriger als die Verwendung von Schleifen… aber ich stelle mich der Herausforderung bei den Jingle Belles.
