Und wieder einmal ist ein Monat vergangen… so langsam jedoch zeichnet sich Hoffnung ab, dass das Tempo an allen Enden etwas nachlässt. Die Sommerferien sind vorbei und „im Büro“ sind wieder alle da, sechs Wochen des Wahnsinns sind beendet. Und als am Mittwoch die Couch kam, habe ich es nach erfolgreicher Montage Larry gleich getan und darauf gechillt. Doch von vorn: mit fachmännischer Beratung und großem Einsatz des Vaters einer Freundin (auch Larry war begeistert), sind Wohn- und Esszimmer nun fertig renoviert:

And so another month has passed… but now that summer break is over I am moderately optimistic that things will slow down on more than just one level. Life at the office was crazy for those past six weeks. And when last Wednesday my new sofa was delivered and successfully assembled by yours truly, I immediately joined Larry and chilled some. But let’s start from the beginning: I was blessed with the professional advice and support of a friend’s father (Larry was quite taken, too) so that the dining and living rooms are now finished:

Der Kaminofen wird dann Ende September installiert… so bleibt mir Zeit rauszufinden, wo ich überhaupt Brennholz herbekomme. Am Ende werde ich auch noch eine Ausbildung zum Waldarbeiter absolvieren. Die restliche Möblierung des Wohnzimmers kommt am letzten Septemberwochenende aus Bonn. Eigentlich wollte ich die alten Möbel im Esszimmer erstmal behalten… aber jetzt, da alles so schön ist… geht das irgendwie nicht. Ich sag ja, der Hausflohmarkt wird nicht wirklich kleiner. Aber die Rosen stehen in der zweiten Blüte – und haben Besuch:

The woodburning stove will be installed at the end of September… so there’s still time to find out where I can get wood to burn. I can’t really see myself doing a training as a lumberjack, though I would have the shirts to go with it! All other furniture for the living room will come from Bonn the last weekend in September. For the dining room I thought I’d keep the old furniture for the time being… but now that everything is basically perfect – it won’t work. I keep telling people: the yard sale is ongoing and doesn’t really get any smaller. But the roses are in their second bloom – and got visitors:

Ich hatte den Eindruck, die Libelle ist tot und bis nah rangegangen, was sie dann dazu bewegt hat, aufzufliegen… dem toten Zustand näher ist nun mein Smartphone. Kommt halt davon, wenn man nicht die 10 Sekunden noch aufwendet, um die Kamera zu holen. Apropos Kamera: die durfte man leider auf der Freilichtbühne in Schuld nicht benutzen, sonst hätte ich euch schon längst von meinem Besuch dort berichtet. In diesem Jahr wurde Pinocchio gegeben. Schön ist es immer, aber in diesem Jahr war es absolut zauberhaft und ich bin sehr froh, eine der letzten Vorstellungen noch besucht zu haben – Pinocchio hatte mich an sich nicht so gereizt. Für 2020 habe ich was auch immer fest im Kalender.

I wondered whether the dragonfly was dead and got really close which made it take off… now, my smartphone is closer to a dead state. I should have spent another 10 seconds grabbing the camera, right? Talking of the camera: unfortunately, photography was not allowed at the Schuld Open Air Theater or I would have created a huge post on that. They performed Pinocchio this year. It’s always just wonderful but this year it was right down enchanting and I’m really happy that I managed to go to one of the last performances – Pinocchio as such was not that much of a pull factor for me but that’s how wrong you can be. A visit in 2020 is already on the agenda.

Am Wochenende danach ging es noch nach München – diese Besuche sind nie mit vielen Fotos gesegnet, da wir nicht viel anderes machen als quatschen, essen, einen heben, schlafen, shoppen und von vorn: unser alljährliches AuPair-Treffen. Es galt 25 Jahre Freundschaft zu feiern. Schocker.

The weekend after that was spent in Munich – these visits never yield many pictures as we don’t do much other than chatting, eating, drinking, sleeping, shopping (start over): our annual AuPair meet. We celebrated 25 years of friendship. Scary.

Und damit komme ich zum Ende – und überlege noch, ob ich mich mit Wahlsendungen heute noch in einen depressiven Zustand versetzen soll. Euch einen schönen Restsonntag und bis hoffentlich bald wieder
