„Dortmund“ und „März“ ergibt für mich seit einigen Jahren „Creativa“. So auch dieses Jahr und wie immer war es eine tolle Sache. Wir waren mit Öffnung der Tore da – und das ist gut, dann hat man noch ungefähr anderthalb Stunden ohne das allerdickste Gedränge.

„Dortmund“ and „March“ have meant „Creativa“ to me for a few years now. This year was no different and as usual it was a great day. We got there with the opening of the doors – and that is always good because it means you have maybe an hour and a half without the really huge crowds.

Neben des Einkaufs von Materialien (ja, ich weiß: ich werde meine Bastelecke bald mal von einem Statiker checken lassen) ist es für mich immer das interessanteste, sich auch Dinge anzusehen, die man selber nicht macht. Also, klöppeln zum Beispiel ist nicht so ganz oben auf meiner Liste, aber deswegen kann ich trotzdem staunend vor den Ausstellungsstücken stehen.

Of course I buy stuff for myself (yes, I know: I will have to have my creative nook checked by a structural engineer soon) but the most interesting part is probably to see all these things that I would never do myself. Bobbin lace-making for example is not very high on my priority list but that doesn’t keep me from looking at others‘ jaw-dropping creations.

Die Blüte oben besteht aus sage und schreibe 1.600 Einzelstücken… Ich habe außerdem einen absoluten Wahnsinnsquilt gesehen, den man leider nicht fotografieren durfte, da er sich nun auf eine Wettbwernstour durch die USA begibt. Wen es interessiert: sucht mal nach der Künstlerin Claudia Pfeil.

Dann wieder um gibt es Techniken, die ich vor langer Zeit auch schon mal gemacht habe… allerdings mit ausgeblasenen Hühnereiern. Sollte ich nochmal machen. Schaffe ich nur dieses Jahr nicht mehr.

Then there are techniques that I have used myself a long time ago… but using blown eggs. I should do that again. But not this year…

So oder so: meine kreative Energie wurde wieder entfacht. Hoffentlich hält der Effekt noch lange an.

One way or the other: my creative energy has been awakened from its slumber. I hope that effect has come to stay.
