Es steht zur Abwechslung mal keine Challenge dahinter – es ist einfach nur so. Ich habe ein bisschen mit einer sehr einfachen Idee rumgespielt und das ist dabei herausgekommen.

For a change this is not about a challenge – no outside motivation. I was fooling around with a very simple idea and this is the outcome.

Noch zwei kurze Updates: im Rahmen des Weihnachtsfundraisers für das Elisabeth-Hospiz in Lohmar sind bereits unglaubliche 82 Kekstüten hauptsächlich an die Frau gekommen. Eine Kollegin brachte mich noch auf ganz neue Gedanken. Die fragte, ob die für Tee seien! Und was für eine Idee! Mit der leeren Tüte in den Teeladen und direkt einfüllen lassen… Wer sich noch beteiligen möchte, kann sich sehr gerne hier umsehen. Und dann läuft bis morgen ja noch das Freebie – und erschütternderweise hat da noch keiner richtig gelegen. Deswegen gebe ich einen Tipp. Denke Fußball (-übertragungen). Wer sich unter diesem Aspekt das ganze nochmal ansehen möchte, der klicke hier 🙂 Bis bald!

And two quick updates: this year’s fundraiser for the Elisabeth Hospice in Lohmar took off exceptionally well: an incredible 82 cookie bags are sold already. And a colleague had another thought: she wondered whether the bags were for tea! What a great idea! Take the empty bag to the tea store and have them fill it there with whatever tea you’d like… If you would like to participate, you can do that here. And as for the on-going blog candy: I seem to have a mind of my own, nobody has had the same associations about that beggar yet. That’s why I give you a hint: think soccer (broadcasts). Still, I guess it’s only answerable by Germans – but any comment is welcome here 🙂 Bye for now!

Deine Chance! / Your chance!

Ja, ich war beschäftigt. Es war wunderbar, abends nach Feierabend mein Hirn abzuschalten und zu basteln. Fernseher aus, spülen kann ich morgen noch – und dazu dann Radio hören. Ging ganz ohne Weihnachtsmusik, erstaunlich! Hier geht es wieder um meinen Fundraiser für das Elisabeth-Hospiz in Lohmar. Es ist nun das dritte Jahr und ich finde es Klasse, wie ihr jedes Jahr dabei seid. Das Produkt ist in diesem Jahr das gleiche wie im letzten Jahr: aufwändig aufgehübschte Plätzchenbeutel. Hier schon mal ein paar Detailansichten (die fertigen „Cover“ müssen noch auf die Tüten geklebt werden):

Yes, I’ve been busy. It was wonderful to switch off my brain after work and just craft away in the evenings. TV off, dishes can wait – just listening to the radio. And it wasn’t even Christmas music, amazing! Again, this is about my fundraiser for the Elisabeth Hospice in Lohmar. It’s the third year I’m doing it and I guess it’s becoming a tradition – and I love how you participate each year. The product is the same this year as last year: elaborately decorated cookie bags. Here are the first details (these finished „covers“ still need to be glued to the bags):

In diesem Jahr biete ich folgendes an:

  • Leere Tüten für 3,80€ das Stück (mit 10% Rabatt bei einer Abnahme von 10 oder mehr)
  • Mit Gebäck gefüllte Tüten für 7,00 € das Stück (Rabatt gilt auch hier). Das Gebäck ist das fantastischste Spritzgebäck, nach altem Familienrezept. Ich sage nur: es gab im letzten Jahr schon Bestellungen für dieses Jahr…

Sollte keine persönliche Übergabe möglich sein, kommen (reine) Portokosten dazu. Zum Versand empfehle ich allerdings die leere Variante… da besteht schon eine Bruchgefahr. Schmeckt dann zwar immer noch, kann aber  mitleiderreged aussehen. Und hier noch ein paar Details…

This year I offer the following:

  • Empty bags at 3.80 € apiece (10% discount on your order of 10 or more)
  • Cookie-filled bags at 7.00 € apiece (discount applies here, too). The cookies are the world’s best piped cookies, an old family recipe. Let me put it this way: there were orders last year already for this year.

If they can’t be handed over personally, shipping costs will be added. I recommend to order only empty bags when shipping is needed, though… the cookies can break. Doesn’t affect the taste but they look a little pathetic. And now for a few more details…

Eine Freundin hat Unterstützung beim Backen angeboten… ich hoffe, sie erinnert sich noch dran 😉 Bestellungen werden ab sofort über jedes Kommunikationsmedium (außer Handy, ha!) entgegengenommen. Gerne auch Kontaktaufnahme per Kommentar, ich melde mich dann. Sollte eine bestimmte Deko gewünscht sein, kriegt zuerst, wer zuerst bestellt. Manche sind bis zu 16-fach vorhanden, andere nur viermal. Also los, bald kommt das Weihnachtsgeld – warum nicht ein bisschen davon in einen guten Zweck anlegen? Bis bald!

A friend offered to help with the baking… I hope she still remembers 😉 Orders will be taken as of now via any medium you choose (no mobile, though, ha!). You can also use the comments below, I will contact you then. If you would like to have a particular one this works on a first come, first serve basis. I have up to 16 of each design, but of some only as little as four. So anyway, the race is on! You’ll soon receive your Christmas bonus (I hope) – why not give a little to a good cause? Schneemann und Schleifen / Snowman and ribbons

Ich hatte meine Weihnachtskartenproduktion für dieses Jahr schon abgehakt… aber es hat mich überkommen – wahrscheinlich, weil ich gerade die ersten 25 „normalen“ Karten bestellt habe. Das hat mich wohl unbewusst herausgefordert. Jedenfalls ist dabei diese Schneemannkarte herausgekommen.

I had already given up on this year’s Christmas card production… but today it finally happened – probably because I had just ordered the first 25 „normal“ cards. I think that posed a challenge to my subconscious or something. Anyhow, this snowman card is the result.

Die Fotos könnten besser sein, aber das Tageslicht ist lange weg… dafür habe ich festgestellt, dass ich die Karte gleich bei drei verschiedenen Challenges einstellen kann. Bei Holly Jolly Christmas geht es diese Woche um Schleifen oder Spitze, bei Winter Wonderland sind zwei Schleifen(bänder) gefragt und bei Sparkles Christmas Challenges heißt es: Schneemänner!

Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures but daylight is long gone… but I noticed that this card qualifies for three challenges. Over at Holly Jolly Christmas it’s all about Ribbons or Lace this week, the DT at Winter Wonderland asks to use two ribbons and over at Sparkles Christmas Challenges there’s one word only: snowmen!

Blockade gelöst / Crafter’s Block Lifted

Die Jingle Belles haben es geschafft! Meine Weihnachtskartenblockade ist gebrochen – und das Wochenende hat ja eigentlich gerade erst angefangen!! Es geht bei dieser Challenge darum, mindestens drei Schichten zu schaffen. Jetzt habe ich es mir mit dem Motiv einfach gemacht (das hat ja selbst schon vier Schichten)… aber ich bin einfach nur froh, dass es langsam wieder anfängt zu fluppen.

The Jingle Belles‘ All Bundled Up challenge did it! My crafter’s block was lifted – and the weekend has only just started!! Anyway, this challenge is about making a card with at least three layers. Well, I took a very easy way with my image which in itself already has four layers… but I’m just relieved that I finally seem to be getting my mojo back.

Weihnachtsglas / Christmas Jar

Vorab sorry für die Fotos… aber da sich mal wieder mit rasenden Schritten eine Deadline nähert, bleibt keine Zeit, auf Tageslicht zu warten. Ein Discounter wird ab Donnerstag Tageslichtlampen im Angebot haben. Ich liebäugele wirklich damit. Aber hier mein Beitrag zur Challenge Sweet Treats bei Holly Jolly:

First of all: sorry for the substandard photography… but again a deadline is sneaking up on me and there’s no time to wait for daylight. At the end of winter, I’m getting ready to buy one of those daylight lamps… This is my entry for Holly Jolly’s Sweet Treats challenge this week:

Vor mittlerweile einigen Jahren habe ich ein Zitat gefunden, das mir sehr gefallen hat – und bis vor wenigen Tagen nicht das richtige Motiv dazu. Aber dann fand ich das hier verwendete bei Bugaboo. Und weil das so gut passt, habe ich das Zitat auf der Innenseite untergebracht:

Insgesamt bin ich hoch motiviert, denn meine Karte von letzter Woche hat es unter die Top 3 bei Holly Jolly geschafft 🙂 Wie auch immer, habt einen guten Start in die neue Woche!

Und dann entdeckte ich bei Holly Jolly dann auch noch eine zeitkritische Challenge mit dem Thema Weihnachts-Elfen… so gar nicht meins, aber bei Bugaboo bin ich mit dem Motiv fündig geworden.

And then I discovered the „Christmas Fairies / Angels“ Challenge over at Holly Jolly, about to reach the deadline… I think it’s my first ever fairy card – Bugaboo helped!

20 Jahre / 20 years

Am vergangenen Wochenende fand er wieder statt – der Weihnachtskaffeeklatsch. Und weil wir in diesem Jahr unser 20-jähriges Jubiläum gefeiert haben, habe ich nach einem festlichen Thema zum Abschluss gesucht… und mich für „Downton Abbey“ entschieden. Auch wenn bislang nur eine weitere Kaffeeklatschlerin die Serie kennt.

Last weekend was coffeeklatsch time again. And as we celebrated our 20th anniversary this year I was looking for a really festive theme… and decided on „Downton Abbey“. Even though so far only one of the girls knows the show.

Es war eine schwere Geburt, Stuhlhussen im online Auktionshaus ersteigert, Silber von Oma und Muttern zusammengesucht und poliert, Geschirr und Kristallgläser besorgt – die Tischdecke war ein Albtraum. Der Kerzenleuchter fiel mir zufällig in die Hände (nicht vom LKW), den Blumenschmuck hatte ich anfertigen lassen.

It took quite some work, bought the chair covers at an online auction, collected Grandma’s and Mom’s silver and polished it, got the china and the crystal glasses – the tablecloth was a nightmare. I got my hands on the candelabra by accident and had the flowers done by the local florist.

Nachmittags gab es Marzipantorte, Apfelstrudel mit Vanille-Eis und Weihnachtsplätzchen (die fast ausschließlich Lars verdrückte), abends eine „Crispy Chestnut Soup“ und Sandwiches. Und zwischendurch so einiges, wie immer 😉

We had a marzipan cake, apple strudel with vanilla ice-cream and Christmas cookies (which were mainly eaten by Lars!) with the coffee and a „crispy chestnut soup“ with sandwiches for dinner. And a lot else in between, as usual 😉

Bei Kerzenlicht wurde es schnell schummrig und bei dem ganzen Geschnatter hatten wir unseren jüngsten Zuwachs dann auch irgendwann total ausgepowert.

It was a cozy affair by candlelight and with all the chatting we had pretty soon exhausted our youngest addition.

Ein absolutes Highlight war das Geschenk einer Freundin, die mir in stundenlanger Arbeit einen Quilt gemacht hat. Bislang gab es die immer als Krabbeldecke für Babies, aber ich hatte mal nachgehört, mit welchen Meriten man sich sonst noch so was verdienen könnte 😉

One of the friends gave me a hand-made quilt for a present – a highlight, really. So far they were only made and given as baby blankets but I had inquired what other merits would be considered in order to qualify for one 😉

Die Künstlerin sieht vor, dass der Quilt unter dem Weihnachtsbaum liegen soll, aber ich stehe fassungslos vor dieser Idee! Der wiegt ’ne Tonne und würde wahrscheinlich die Form des Ständers reindrücken, ganz zu schweigen von evtl. Überschwappen von Brackwasser und Harztropfen. Nein, das ist keine Option, oder?! Wie auch immer, habt ein schönes viertes Adventswochenende.

The artist intended for it to be used underneath the Christmas tree but I am stunned at the idea! It weighs a ton (the tree) and would probably emboss the shape of its stand into the quilt… and I don’t even want to think about brakish water spilling over or resin dropping down. No, that is not an option, is it?! Anyhow, enjoy the fourth weekend of advent!

Oops…

Und plötzlich war ich wie vom Erdboden verschluckt, aber es war wirklich verteufelt viel los im Büro in den letzten Tagen. Doch das hat einen wunderbaren Anlass: mein Kollege ist Vater geworden und hatte von heute auf morgen besseres vor 😉 Zuallererst muss ich jetzt mal den Gewinner des Dritten Advent Freebies verkünden…

And suddenly I dropped off the face of the earth but I was absolutely swamped at work those past days. The reason for that is a very happy one: a daughter was born to my colleague and he went into parental leave from one day to the next – good for him! 9 Tage ! / 9 days!

Nur noch 9 Tage bis Weihnachten!! Wie konnte das passieren?! Hier war was los am Wochenende, doch dazu später mehr… es gilt das traditionelle 3.-Advent-Freebie zu verlosen. Soeben habe ich das Ergebnis des Projekts Rumtopf 2013 getestet. Ich glaube, er ist noch besser, als die ersten beiden Jahrgänge. Auf jeden Fall mit mehr unterschiedlichen Früchten – da ist wirklich fast alles drin.

Only 9 days to go until Christmas! How did that happen?! A lot was going on here on the weekend but I’ll get to that some other time… now is the time for the third of advent blog candy. I just tried the 2013 edition of the homemade fruit in rum. I think it’s even better than the two previous vintages. One thing’s for sure: the variety of fruit has increased – there’s almost nothing that’s not to be found.

Ich träume von einer schwedischen Weihnacht mit viel Schnee und einem bollernden Ofen und ein bisschen Skilanglauf in einsamen, stillen Wäldern in den drei Stunden, die es so ein bisschen hell ist. Schneeflocken-Armee / Snowflake Army

Manchmal ist es Lucia, manchmal das Christkind – in diesem Jahr war es der Nikolaus, der sich auch meiner Kollegen angenommen hat. Und das hat er gemacht, bevor Eva mir beigebracht hat, wie man ordentliche Schleifen bindet! Ich habe viele nette Kollegen…

Sometimes it’s Lucia, sometimes it’s Christ Child – this year it was Saint Nicholas who looked after my colleagues. And he did that before Eva kindly taught me how to tie ribbons nicely! I have many nice colleagues…
