Das neue Jahr ist schon über drei Wochen alt und ich erhole mich nur erschreckend langsam von einer ziemlichen Erschöpfung am Ende des alten Jahres. Ich bin vorsichtig optimistisch, dass ich an diesem Wochenende die Kurve kriege, denn ich konnte mich endlich von der Couch erheben und auch was anderes machen, als Serien gucken (auch wenn ich weiter noch ca. 9,5 Staffeln meiner neuesten Sucht vor mir habe). Schlimm, wenn man selbst aus dem Badezimmerfenster raus Vögel beobachten kann 🙂

We are already more than three weeks into the new year and I am taking a shockingly long time to recover from the state of exhaustion I had reached at the end of the old year. I am cautiously optimistic that this weekend has shown a marked change because I was able to get up form the couch and do things other than watching TV (even though I still have about 9.5 seasons of my latest addiction to go). Fate really deals you a blow when you can do birdwatching from the bathroom window 😉

Aber ich versuche ja schon, mich hin und wieder draußen zu bewegen und der Schnee, den wir für eine überraschend lange Zeit genießen durften, hat da schon geholfen.

That being I said, I do try to be out and about on a reagular basis and the wonderful snow we were blessed with for a surprsingly long time helped a lot.

Dabei habe ich unter anderem eine… Weihnachtsecke im Wald entdeckt. Wer wohl hier gefeiert hat? Und ob die Dekorationen auch spätestens zu Lichtmess wieder abgeräumt werden? Ich bleibe dran.

On one of my walks I found this… Christmas nook in the woods. I wonder who celebrated here? And whether the decorations are taken down again latest at Candlemas? I’ll keep you posted.

Zu einem Power-Spaziergang an der Ahr ist es auch gekommen. Das heftige da finde ich ja immer, dass man gleich zum Einstieg erstmal heftig lang ziemlich steil bergauf muss. Es lohnt sich zwar auf jeden Fall, aber das ist vom Gefühl her wie morgens kurz nach Sonnenaufgang joggen. Dafür bin ich nicht gemacht. Hat mich ans Wandern in Cinque Terre erinnert. Wie dem auch sei: Sonne habe ich seit 1.1. glaube ich an drei Tagen in homöopathischen Dosen gesehen, aber stellt euch mal diesen Ausblick an einem sonnigen Herbsttag vor, wenn die Weinberge dann auch noch in voller Herbstlaub-Pracht stehen.

One thing I did was a „power stroll“ on the river Ahr. The tough part is that you always start out with a rather long and rather challenging ascent. It’s totally worth it, no doubt, but to me it feels like going out jogging before sunrise. I’m not cut out for that. It reminided me of hiking in Cinque Terre. Anyhow: I think I’ve seen the sun about three times since January 1, and in „homeopathic doses“ as we say, but imagine this vista on a sunny day in fall, with the vineyards sporting gorgeous foliage.

Es bedarf natürlich nicht der Erwähnung, dass Larry es genießt, dass ich erstens soviel zuhause bin und zweitens soviel Zeit auf der Couch verbringe. Mnachmal habe ich das Gefühl, sie ist mehr unterwegs als ich und das will was heißen. So oder so gilt weiterhin: mittendrin statt nur dabei:

Die Aussichten für diesen Blog: hoffentlich bald mal wieder mehr aus der kreativen Ecke, schließlich will ich mal richtig loslegen mit meinem Mini-Fotostudio, das unter dem Weihnachtsbaum lag. Da sollten halbwegs gut belichtete Bilder bei jedem Bewölkungsgrad und jeder Tages- und Nachtzeit möglich sein.

The outlook for this blog: hopefully more from the creative nook soon as I would like to finally give the new mini photo booth a try that Santa brought. With this, it should be possible to take somewhat well-exposed pictures no matter how cloudy the day is or even at night.
