Dezember 2020 – The Knackered Grouse

Es ist allerhöchste Zeit, dass es hier, im Zuhause des Fundraisers für das Elisabeth-Hospiz in Lohmar, auch endlich mal ein Update in dieser Sache gibt. Das hat dieses Jahr nicht ganz so verlässlich geklappt, weil ich u.a. auch noch auf Instagram unterwegs war und die diversen Kanäle konnte ich irgendwann nicht mehr alle bedienen… und Instagram war da deutlich leichtgängiger. Ich habe jetzt schon Ideen für nächstes Jahr 😉

It’s high time for an update on the fundraiser for the Elisabeth Hospice in Lohmar here, at its home. The communication here wasn’t quite as up to date as you are used to, once the original „catalogue“ was published. That was due to the fact that I had also started advertizing it on Instagram among others and I reached a point where I didn’t manage to feed all the channels any longer… and Instagram is a lot less… heavy. I’ve already had first ideas for next year 😉

Bevor ich zu Zahlen komme: ich bin überwältigt. Vom Zuspruch. Von den Rückmeldungen zu Käufen. Von der generellen Welle an Unterstützung, Wertschätzung, Anfeuerung, Verbreitung guter Laune. Vielen Dank an euch alle! Vielen Dank auch besonders an die strickenden, einkochenenden, bastelnden, backenden, nähenden Unterstützer*innen, ohne die das alles gar nicht möglich wäre – schon gar nicht in diesem Ausmaß. Ihr seid der Wahnsinn!

Before I get to the numbers: I am humbled. By the response. By the feedback on purchases. By the general wave of support, appreciation, good cheer. Thank you everybody! Many thanks also and especially to the knitting, preserving, crafting, baking, sewing supporters – it wouldn’t have been possible without you, much less at this scale. You rock!

Bevor es losging, war ich ein bisschen in Sorge, wie das in diesem so anderen Jahr laufen würde. Dabei müsste ich euch doch mittlerweile gut genug kennen. 1000 Euro waren fast innerhalb 24 Stunden erreicht. Kurz darauf waren die 2000 geknackt. Sollten wir auf einen Spendenrekord (>2500 Euro) von etwa 3000 Euro hoffen können?

Before the fundraiser went online, I didn’t know what to expect this year where everyting was different. But you would have thought I knew you folks by now. The 1000-Euro milestone was reached in little more than 24 hours. Shortly thereafter we reached 2000 Euros. I started entertaining the thought that it could be possible to surpass last year’s result (2500 Euros) and maybe reach 3000?

Wir haben die 3000 Euro geknackt! Und dank großzügigster Aufrundungen und teils richtig krasser CFN (Cash for Nothing)-Beteiligungen… sind es unfassbare 4000 (viertausend) Euro geworden, die ich soeben an das Hospiz überwiesen habe. Ja, ich habe das mehrmals durchgerechnet und abgeglichen. Ja, ich bin mir sicher.

We made 3000 Euros! And thanks to both very generous rounding up and some breathtaking CFN (Cash for Nothing)… we made an incredible 4000 (four thousand) Euros which I had transferred to the hospice a moment ago. Yes, I did double- and triple-check. Yes, I am sure.

Larry ist genervt. Hier ist zuviel los. Hier wird den ganzen Tag gepackt, sortiert, gerechnet. Das muss ein Ende haben. Aber es hört nicht auf, denn Barbara hat ein Ziel: sie will 3000 Euro für das Elisabeth Hospiz in Lohmar knacken. Also habt Erbarmen mit dieser bemitleidenswerten, vollkommen vernachlässigten Katze, die einfach nur ihr Leben zurück will. Ingrid will helfen und hat noch wunderschöne Masken für die Feiertage genäht (mit Nasendraht und Filterfach):

Larry is annoyed. Too much is going on here. Packing, sorting, calculating – all day long. That has to come to an end. But there’s no hope yet because Barbara has a goal: she wants to reach 3000 Euros for the Elisabeth Hospice in Lohmar. So have mercy on this poor, neglected cat – all she wants is to have her life back. Ingrind was ready to help and donated wonderful community masks for the holidays:
