Da musste ich doch tatsächlich erstmal das Wörterbuch aktivieren, als ich das Thema bei 12 Months of Christmas gelesen habe: Gingham. Hm. Sagte mir nichts. Auch die Übersetzung Vichy-Muster machte mich nicht schlauer, aber der Begriff Bauernkaro ließ es mich dann erahnen… Die Vorhänge im noch zu renovierenden Gartenhäuschen habe ich zwar entfernt, aber auf der Weihnachtskarte bin ich doch ganz angetan davon.
Now that was an optional twist over at 12 Months of Christmas that I needed to look up in the dictionery: gingham. Never heard of it. Even the German translation „Vichy pattern“ didn’t ring a bell but the term, literally translated into English, „checkered farmer’s pattern“ gave me an idea. The curtains in the garden cottage that still needs to be re-done have been disposed of but I kinda like it on a Christmas card.
