A Lunch Break in… DUSHANBE!

Das ist mir auch noch nicht oft untergekommen – oder überhaupt? – wenn die Lokalität für die Mittagspause eine Sehenswürdigkeit ist: das Teehaus Rohat in Dushanbe. Auf manchen Seiten wird es als „ancient“ beschrieben, aber das scheint wohl nicht der Fall zu sein, jedenfalls nicht der zur Straße gewandte Teil mit den weißen Säulen und Deckengemälden… da konnte man ein „1980“ ausmachen.

It was a first for me to have a lunchbreak at a must-see landmark – the Rohat tea house in Dushanbe. Some sources call it „ancient“ but I don’t think that’s the case. Or at least it doesn’t seem to be the case for the part that is facing the street, featuring large white pillars and ceiling paintings… one of the latter included a „1980“.

Aber der hintere Teil gefällt mir auch besser – für Farben bin ich ja immer zu haben! Die Kassettendecke, wenn man sie so nennen kann, hat es mir besonders angetan. Es ist wohl die Rede davon, dass auch dieses Gebäude platt gemacht werden soll. Ich habe verlauten lassen, dass ich dann einen Teil der Decke nehmen würde. Die käme sicher auch in meinem Wohnzimmer gut!

But I like the part in back better – I’m all for colorful surroundings! The coffered ceiling, if that is what it’s called, really piqued my interest. Apparently, there’s talk about the demolition of this building as well. I’m ready to take one section of it. I’m sure it would work wonderfully in my living room!

Apropos Mittagspause. Apropos Essen. Das ist wieder genau das richtige für mich hier. Alles sehr lecker und auch mit Ausflügen in die ukrainische und georgische Küche.

Talking about lunch breaks. Talking about food. Tajikistan is just right for me. Everything is very delicious and I’ve also enjoyed excursions to the Ukrainian and Georgian cuisine.
