Meinem Weihnachtsbaum habe ich heute die letzte Ehre erwiesen, bevor ich ihn zerlegt und abholbereit gemacht habe. Weihnachten ist vorbei. 348 Tage noch. Und dann dachte ich, ich sollte mal nach einem seit ca. Oktober laufenden Experiment gucken.

I’ve paid my last respects to my Christmas tree today before I took it apart and made it ready for pick-up. Christmas is over. 348 days to go. And then I thought that it might be time to check on an experiment I started in October or so.

Oder vielleicht fing es auch früher an: als die Frühjahrsbepflanzung 2012 den Geranien weichen musste. Ich entschied, dass ich alle Blumenzwiebeln aufheben und „wiederverwerten“ würde… so funktioniert das ja eigentlich auch. Im Oktober habe ich sie dann eingepflanzt, etwas begossen und seitdem standen zwei Kästen in der Abstellkammer. Und heute sahen sie so aus:

Or maybe it all started sooner than that: when the spring flowers had to make room for geraniums. I decided that I wanted to keep all the bulbs and „recycle“ them… that’s how it’s supposed to work, isn’t it? I planted them back in October, watered them a bit and then forgot those two flower boxes in my storage closet. Today they looked like this:

Ha, da ist Frühling in der Abstellkammer! Da scheint noch viel mehr zu kommen, die trockene Erde ist extrem angehoben. Da habe ich mal schnell gegossen und überlegt, wie schnell ich mich von den Winterkästen an Küche und Schlafzimmerfenster trennen kann…

Ha, there’s spring in my storage closet! And it looks like a whole lot more is breaking through – the dry soil is raised. I quickly watered them both and started thinking how fast I could possibly exchange these two with the winter themed boxes I have at my kitchen and bedroom windows…
