Es gab in den letzten Monaten (im letzten Jahr?!) so viele interessante Dinge, die ich bei Kartenbastlern weltweit gesehen habe und viele davon wollte ich ausprobieren, bin aber bislang nicht dazu gekommen. Manche sind jetzt „lost in space“, an andere habe ich mich erinnert und sie wieder hervorgekramt. Unter anderem diese Sternkarte, die im online Tutorial von Diane Dimich vorgestellt wird.

There have been so many interesting things I have seen over the past months (the past year?!) in the card making community that I had wanted to try but never got around to. Some of them are lost for now, others I do remember and am starting to work on now. Among them is this cute star-shaped card that Diane Dimich introduces in her online tutorial.

Es war ja zu befürchten: hier ist er wieder, der kleine Eisbär von Pink Cat Studio. Dieses Mal als Schüttelkarte.

I knew this was going to happen: here he is again, the little polar bear from Pink Cat Studio. Just can’t let him go. This time I made a shaker card, though.

Die aktuelle Challenge bei den Jingle Belles war der Auslöser: Shake it, Santa Baby! Wobei mein Ziel noch sein dürfte, eine Schüttelkarte mit einem Weihnachtsmann zu machen… Es sind ja noch sechs Tage!

The current challenge over at the Jingle Belles, Shake it, Santa Baby!, made me think of the shaker card. I think I should go for a shaker card featuring a Santa, too… I have six days left!

Ich werde die Karte außerdem einstellen bei Sparkles Christmas Challenges („Weihnachtstiere“), bei Merry Monday, wo es eine Weihnachtskarte mit einem Anhänger sein soll, bei City Crafter, da geht’s auch um den Anhänger und bei Holly Jolly, wo man „rahmen“ soll. Was hier hoffentlich zutrifft.

I will enter this card in the following challenges as well: Sparkles Christmas Challenges (Christmas Animals), Merry Monday (Tag! You’re It!), City Crafter (tic TAG toe) and Holly Jolly (Frame it!)… not quite sure it qualifies here but the DT will certainly let me know.

Es geht schon ganz stark auf’s Wochenende, das Wetter wird immer besser… was will man mehr? Bis bald!

Oh je, die tierische Weihnachtschallenge bei Sparkles Christmas Challenges läuft noch bis Ende des Monats… ich hoffe, ich schieße mich nicht komplett darauf ein! Aber dieser niedliche Eisbär von Pink Cat Studio hatte es mir angetan. Ich sehe in quasi tiefenentspannt in den Schären vor Stockholm seine Runden drehen 🙂

Oh dear, the Animal Christmas challenge over at Sparkles is open until the end of the month… I hope I can soon focus on another theme again! But I fell in love with this cute polar bear from Pink Cat Studio. I can see him skating the archipelago off the coast of Stockholm… deep relaxation style 🙂

So kann es gehen: den halben Tag lang habe ich versucht, eine Weihnachtskarte zu einem bestimmmten Thema zu erstellen und es wollte einfach nicht werden… und als ich’s aufgegeben und frei nach Schnauze rumgebastelt habe, kam dabei eine heraus, die ich bei der laufenden Sparkles Christmas Challenge unterbringen kann: „Christmas Animals“. Und mein liebstes Weihnachtstier ist… der Elch! Und dieser von Eureka Stamps gefällt mir immer wieder!

Such is life: I’ve tried for quite a long time today to make a card for a certain challenge and it just wouldn’t come together… and when I gave up and started creating to my heart’s desire, I came up with this one, which perfectly fits the current Sparkles Christmas Challenge: „Christmas Animals„. And my favorite Christmas animal is… the moose! Don’t you love this specimen from Eureka Stamps?

Heute Abend endet die Jingle Belles Challenge mit dem Thema „Let it snow!“ Dazu bin ich zwar schon kreativ geworden, aber irgendwie wollte ich mehr Schnee! Und ich wollte meine neue „Snowman in Mug“ Schablone von Cottage Cutz ausprobieren.

The current Jingle Belles challenge „Let it snow!“ ends tonight. I have already contributed one card but somehow I wanted more snow! Also, I wanted to give my new „Snowman in Mug“ die from Cottage Cutz a first go.

Auf den ersten schnellen Blick wird man sich fragen: wo ist da mehr Schnee, abgesehen von den zwei Flocken auf der Tasse? Aber der zweite wird es dann klären. Der ovale Kraft-Hintergrund hat ein Schneeflockenmuster und auch zwischen den Bäumen auf dem hellblauen Hintergrund schwirren hellbraune Schneeflocken rum. Mal sehen, ob es heute ohne Schnee weitergeht… Auf jeden Fall bringe ich die Karte auch noch in der Challenge bei Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges unter, wo es darum geht, Kraft Papier zu verwenden.

At first sight many will wonder: where exactly would there be more snow? Those two little flakes on the cup? But going over it again will make you realize: the oval Kraft paper has a snowflake pattern and in between the trees on the blue background paper there’s bascially a snow flurry in light brown. I wonder whether I can work without snow for the remainder of today… Anyhow, I will also enter this card over at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges as they are asking to use Kraft paper this week.

Es ist schon irgendwie kühl genug, dass man über Weihnachten nachdenken könnte, finde ich. Dazu noch eine Weihnachts-CD in den Player gelegt und los geht’s! Die Jingle Belles arbeiten in dieser Woche unter dem Motto „Let It Snow!“… es soll also Schnee auf der Karte erscheinen.

It’s certainly cold enough to think about Christmas! Add to that a CD with Christmas songs in your player and you’re ready to go! Over at the Jingle Belles this fortnight’s challenge „Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!“ is all about… snow.

Schon als ich letztes Mal dabei war, habe ich mit den Resten des letzten Weihnachts-Fundraisers gearbeitet – die die Form von Lesezeichen haben. Und auch hier hat es sich angeboten. Und dazu noch die neuen Schneemann-Sticker, die ich in Massen im Ausverkauf meines liebsten und nun bald schließenden Geschäfts für Büro- und Schreibwaren erstanden habe.

When I participated last, back in April, I had already used some of the scraps from last year’s Christmas fundraiser – that come in the shape of a bookmark. And they came in handy again here. Add to that the new snowman sticker I bought by the dozen in the clearance sale of my favorite store for office and craft supplies and this is what I came up with.

Ich denke, die Karte passt auch zur Challenge bei ABC, wo es heißt, „Keep It Simple“. Und einfach gehalten habe ich es wohl?? Bis bald!

Oh, da komme ich unerwartet doch noch dazu, bei der laufenden Challenge der Jingle Belles dabei zu sein. Da geht es zum Earth Day um Recycling… und Upcycling… im weitesten Sinne umweltfreundlich. Da fielen mir doch gleich die ganzen Überbleibsel meiner letzten Adventsaktion fürs Hospiz ein: an die 200 kleine Rechtecke wie unten und dazu passende Streifen etwa in Größe eines Lesezeichens. Ich konnte sie einfach nicht wegschmeißen.

Yes, I unexpectedly got around to playing along at the current challenge over at the Jingle Belles, that is to celebrate Earth Day by re-cycling, re-using or up-cycling. I immediately thought of the leftovers from last year’s advent fundraiser for the hospice: about 200 little rectangles like the ones below and matching strips the size of a bookmark. I just couldn’t throw them away.

Das erste Resultat gibt es nun in vierfacher Ausführung… aber da ist ja noch genügend Material für viele weitere Ideen.

Once at it, I made four cards of the same design… but of course there’s more than enough material for many more designs.

Und wer sich fragt, wo das kleine Rechteck untergekommen ist (UND der Rest des Hintergrundpapiers… hier blieb nichts für die Tonne): die Karte ist auch innen gestaltet:

Ein freier Tag mit ausschlafen, einem Spaziergang in der Sonne und ein bisschen Basteln – was begehrt das Herz mehr? Da kann man ja fast noch ein bisschen putzen… Die Farbkombination aus dem Titel fand ich ja erst bizarr, aber als ich mir die Beispiele zur Challenge #152 bei Merry Monday angesehen habe, war mein Ehrgeiz geweckt.

A day off, featuring sleeping in late, a walk in the park Botanical Gardens (sun included) and a little crafting – everything my heart desires! On such a perfect day I could even tolerate a little cleaning… The color palette mentioned in the title at first seemed bizarre to me but when I had a look at what the DT did for challenge #152 over at Merry Monday, I wanted to play, too.

Es ist wieder ein Pinguin von Angels Landing – es gibt kein Jahr, in dem ich die nicht verwende. Dazu verschiedene Nuancen von (hell)grün und türkis, drei Schichten Schleifenband and eine Schneeflocke. Die Schneeflocke ist eigentlich ein tolles – grelles – Glitzern in hellgrün, aber das in Pixel zu bannen, war nicht so einfach…

Again I’ve chosen a penguin from the set by Angels Landing – I always return to them, they’re just too cute. Add a few different hues of lime and turquoise, three layers of ribbon and a snowflake. That snowflake is actually one glittery sensation in lime but somehow that was hard to photograph…

Bei Merry Monday heißt es noch für wenige Stunden: monochrom blau. Über dieser Karte habe ich seit Anfang der Woche gebrütet – denn ich wollte unbedingt das Papiertquilten, wie ich es bei Lauren Bergold gesehen hatte, integrieren.

Over at Merry Monday this week’s challenge is to go monochromatic in blue. I’ve been poring over this card all week – because I wanted to use it to try out paper quilting as I had seen it on Lauren Bergold’s blog.

Der „Quilt“ gefällt mir eigentlich gut, aber auf der Karte ist insgesamt zuviel los. Ein Hintergrund für den eislaufenden Schneemann hätte zuviel Quilt verdeckt. Gerade kommt mir der Gedanke, ich hätte es mit Vellum versuchen können… vielleicht gehe ich noch mal dran!

I quite like the quilt part but in all the card is way too busy. A background for the skating snowman would have covered too much of the quilt. As I am writing this I start thinking that I could have tried with vellum… maybe I go back to it again!

Der Frühling ist da – mit fast 20 Grad heute! Was bleibt einem da anderes, als sich mit der Herstellung einer Weihnachtskarte etwas runterzukühlen? Noch besser, wenn da Schnee mit zum Thema wird.

Spring is here – at almost 20°C today! What else can you do than create a Christmas card – you have to cool down one way or the other! And snow plays a large part in this one.

Vor einigen Wochen bin ich über den Merry Monday Blog gestolpert und wollte schon länger mal mitspielen. Wenn ich jetzt nicht mehr allzu lange für diesen Beitrag brauche, klappt es nun endlich. Das Thema ist nicht Schneemänner, sondern….? Genau, rot und grün. Ich glaube, das habe ich getroffen…

I came across the Merry Monday Blog a few weeks ago already and have since wanted to play along. And if I don’t take too long writing this post, it will work this time. This week’s challenge is not snowmen, but….? Right, it’s red and green. I think the card qualifies…

Ich habe schon einige Karten mit diesem Cheerful Snowmen Stempel von Tara Reed Designs gemacht… Der bringt einfach Freude. Und es gibt so viele Details, die jedes Mal anders gestaltet werden können.

I have already made a few cards with this Cheerful Snowmen rubber stamp from Tara Reed Designs… It’s just such a lot of fun. And there are so many details that can be made to look different than they did on the previous card.
