Es hat mich für ein verlängertes Wochenende nach Frankfurt verschlagen. Wie meist bin ich weniger touristisch unterwegs, sondern besuche zwei Freundinnen mit Anhang. Deswegen liegt der Fokus auf quatschen und weniger auf fotografieren. Aber der gestrige Besuch im Palmengarten ließ mich doch ziemlich oft die Kamera zücken.

I’m in Frankfurt for an extended weekend. As usual, I’m not really a tourist here but have come to see two friends and their families. That’s why the focus of this trip is on talk rather than on photography. But yesterday’s visit at the Palmengarten changed that for a couple of hours.

Das Wetter war ganz schön neblig, aber ein paar Sonnenstrahlen kamen hin und wieder doch noch durch, so dass wir kurzfristig auch mal auf Jacke und Schal verzichten konnten.

The weather was really foggy but we were rewarded with a few rays of sunshine here and there so that for a few moments we could even take off scarves and coats.

Schnell hat man es dann übertrieben und beginnt doch zu frieren, so dass wir uns auch noch in das Tropicarium geflüchtet haben. Diese „Kakteenwürmer“ mit den ebensolchen Blüten fand ich sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig. Passten irgendwie zu Halloween.

But sooner than you know you start shivering again so we paid the Tropicarium a visit, too. I can’t say those „cactus worms“ were love at first sight and the blossoms didn’t help the feeling. Somehow they seemed a perfect fit for Halloween, though.

Wieder aufgewärmt ging es erneut nach draußen, wo es auch im Herbst an jeder Ecke was zu entdecken gab.

When we had warmed up enough we went outside again – even in fall there’s something to discover on every corner.

Abschließend saßen wir noch in Fleecedecken eingepackt bis zum Sonnenuntergang auf der Terrasse des Cafés und haben uns Tee und ein fantastisches Stück der Haustorte gegönnt. Wenn ich den Nachmittag in einer Collage zusammenfassen sollte, sähe das wohl so aus:

We finished the day on the terrace of the cafe, wrapped up in fleece blankets and having tea and a piece of the outright fantastic specialty cake they offered – and suddenly realized the sun was setting. If I had to summarize that day in a collage it would look like this:
