2018 ist vorbei… Willkommen in 2019! Wir haben da so einen running gag unter Kollegen – „Ich sag euch: 2019 wird mein Jahr!“ Ich wäre stark dafür. Aber das alte Jahr haben wir noch gebührend verabschiedet mit dem traditionellen Raclette, Spieleabend oder eher -nacht und Gequatsche bis 5 Uhr heute Morgen. Ich kann mich kaum auf das Neujahrsspringen aus Garmisch konzentrieren…

2018 has come and gone… welcome to 2019! There’s this joke among the colleagues – „I’m sure: 2019 will be my year!“ I’m all for it. But we said good-bye to the old year with our traditional raclette, board games and catching up until 5 this morning. I have a hard time concentrating on the New Year’s ski jumping from Garmisch-Partenkirchen…

Das Essen war also reichlich, die Drinks lecker, das Glückslos in meinem Fall erfolglos, dafür die Glückskekse vielversprechend: „Sie meistern jede Situation“, „Prima, Sie haben ein offenes Ohr für Neues“ und „Prima! Auch wenn’s durcheinander geht, bewahren Sie einen kühlen Kopf.“ Was kann da schiefgehen?

So there was lots of food, yummy drinks, my scratch ticket did not bring riches but the fortune cookies were promising: „You master every situation“, „Great, you are open for new things“ and „Great! Even when things get messy, you keep a cool head.“ So what could possibly go wrong?

Bei VERTELL?S wurde ich unter anderem nach meinem größten Erfolg der letzten 12 Monate gefragt. Da würde ich sagen, das war der gemeinsam erreichte Erfolg des Basars für das Elisabeth-Hospiz in Lohmar… der, bis ich den Laden wirklich dicht gemacht habe am 27.12., unglaubliche 2.350 Euro erbracht hat – und dann noch um zwei sehr großzügige „Barspenden“ auf 2.750 Euro hochgetrieben wurde. Nochmal mein Dank an euch alle, das war ein Riesending! Und meine Bastelecke ist endlich wieder bereit, schöne Dinge zu produzieren. Und lasst euch gesagt sein: ich habe schon wieder Ideen für den nächsten Advent!

One of the questions I had to answer when we played VERTELL?S was about my greatest success of the past 12 months. I would say that was the success we all built: the fundraiser for the Elisabeth Hospice in Lohmar… which resulted in (when I finally closed shop on December 27) an incredible 2,350 Euros – which were then raised to 2,750 Euros by way of two very generous „cash donations“. Again: a big thank you to all of you, it was an amazing experience! And my creative nook is finally ready for a lot of fun crafting in 2019. So rest assured: I already have ideas for the next one!

Nicht zu vergessen ist außerdem, dass einfach mal so „nebenbei“ noch 74 Euro für Daw Thein Aye in Myanmar zusammengekommen sind, die ich ebenfalls in Kürze überweisen werde. Auch dafür vielen Dank! Doch nun wünsche ich euch ein frohes neues Jahr voller wunderbarer Begegnungen, spannender Abenteuer und ganz einfach viel Spaß und Gesundheit.

Last but not least, there were another 74 Euros that were raised „on the side“ for Daw Thein Aye in Myanmar which I will also transfer shortly. Many thanks for that as well!
