Ha, ich schon wieder! Aber ich habe in der letzten Woche zweimal Überraschungspost bekommen, mehr oder weniger. Links das wunderbare Lesezeichen, das ich bei Nessa gewonnen habe – leider ist der Blog erstmal aus Zeitmangel abgeschaltet, aber ich hoffe, dass sich das auch wieder ändert. Die Post aus UK war jedenfalls wunderschön! Und dann kam noch das Päckchen von Gail aus Kanada, die mittlerweile bei jedem Elch an mich denkt – es war anderthalb Monate unterwegs. Meine Weihnachtskarten habe ich noch nicht abgebaut und nun ist klar, warum! Diese kommt noch hinzu. Die „Hot Chocolate Sticks“ habe ich noch nicht getestet, aber sie sehen vielversprechend aus.

Ha, it’s me again already! But I’ve wanted to tell you about some happy mail I’ve recently received. You can see the wonderful handmade bookmark by Nessa to the left. I won it on her blog which unfortunately is shut down for the time being due to lack of time. I hope that will change again… as soon as time allows. This happy mail from the UK certainly made my day! And then there was package from Gail in Canada, who has come to think of me every time she sees a moose, in the flesh or on merchandise I assume! This package was traveling about one and a half months. I haven’t had the time (or the heart, for that matter) to take down the Christmas cards and now it all falls into place: this card will join the fun! I haven’t tried the „Hot Chocolate Sticks“ yet but they look VERY promising.

Und dann… stehen da ja auch die Olympischen Spiele an. Eigentlich war ich mit Blick auf umweltzerstörerische Megabauten, Unterdrückung von Minderheiten und ausgebeuteter Gastarbeiter ja fast schon soweit, die Spiele mehr oder weniger zu ignorieren. Alle, die mich ein Weilchen kennen, haben wahrscheinlich immer schon still vor sich hin gegrinst. Und praktisch über Nacht ist jetzt mit meinem Terminkalender das passiert:

And then… there’ll be the Olympics. I thought I was ready to more or less ignore them, seeing all the mega construction in once pristine nature, oppression of minorities and exploited guest workers. But those of you (and other people around me) who have known me for a while have probably silently smiled to themselves at that. And suddenly, practically overnight, this has happened to my agenda:

Und ich habe schon überlegt, wo es Sinn macht, einen Alpinwettbewerb morgens um 8 zu gucken, ein paar Überstunden abzufeiern und erst um 10:30 Uhr im Büro aufzuschlagen. Oder umgekehrt früher zu gehen, wenn um 16 Uhr Biathlon ansteht. Eishockeyspiele sind ja auch nicht zu verachten. Der Herrenslalom wird mich nervlich umbringen, ist aber am Wochenende. Aber eins ist klar: sollte Felix Neureuther Gold holen, ist hier das nächste Freebie fällig. Kurz: ihr wisst, was ihr die kommenden zwei Wochen von mir zu erwarten habt!

And I’ve already been checking which days are basically an ivitation to get rid of some of those accumulated extra hours: apline skiing starting at 8am GMT+1 – I could still make it to the office by 10:30. Or the other way round: biathlon at 4pm… just leave a little early. The men’s slalom will definitely kill me but it’s on a weekend. One thing’s for sure: if Felix Neureuther wins the gold, there will be blog candy here. In a nutshell: you know what to expect from here over the coming two weeks!
