In dieser Woche möchten die Ladies bei Our Beautiful World sehen, was für uns DEZEMBER ist. Da könnte ich jeden beliebigen Eintrag, den ich jemals im Dezember gemacht habe (und machen werde) verlinken. Plätzchen, Weihnachtsmarkt, Weihnachtspost, Schnee (wenn auch selten), prasselndes Kaminfeuer (wenn auch auf DVD ;-)), würzige Tees usw. Aber das Zentrum bildet schon der Baum mit seinen vielen liebgewonnenen Details wie der Krippe aus Uganda oben.

This week the ladies over at Our Beautiful World have asked us to show them our DECEMBER. I could link up any post I’ve ever published (and will ever publish) in December. Cookies, Christmas market, Christmas cards, snow (though rarely), crackling open fires (though on DVD ;-)), spicy teas etc. But the focus really is on the tree with its many details I’ve come to love, like the nativity scene above from Uganda.

In diesen Baum habe ich mich dieses Jahr verliebt… und aus der Ferne sieht er ja aus wie immer, seit Jahrzehnten dieselbe Grundfarbe der Deko… Aber wie gesagt, die Details. Der kleine Esel unten in eine Erinnerung an einen wunderbaren Urlaub in Pakistan.

This is the tree I’ve fallen in love with this year… and from this perspective it just looks like every tree I’ve ever had somehow, same choice of basic color… But as I said: the details. The little donkey below is a keepsake from a wonderful vacation in Pakistan.

Das nachfolgende Väterchen Frost ist aus Budapest, aber russischer Herstellung. Die gibt es in den verschiedensten Größen und sie alleine wären schon ein guter Grund, mal Russland anzusteuern.

The following Jack Frost is from Budapest but made in Russia. You can get them in different sizes and for me, they are reason enough to plan a trip to Russia!

Aber neben rot als Grundthema sind ja, Überraschung, Elche das zweite Thema. Die Dame links habe ich von einer lieben Freundin schon vor vielen Jahren bekommen – sie zaubert jedes Jahr ein Lächeln auf mein Gesicht, wenn ich sie wieder auspacke. Den Skifahrer konnte ich letztes Jahr nicht in diesem furchtbaren Laden lassen, wo ich ihn gefunden habe.

But there’s a second theme in addition to red… that’s moose. What a surprise, huh? The lady to the left was given to me by a dear friend many years ago already – and every year she puts a smile on my face when I take her out of the box again. The skier was saved from a horrible store by myself last year.

Die Jungs im Abschluss werden von Jahr zu Jahr zahlreicher. Auch sie kommen von einer lieben Freundin – jedes Jahr ein weiterer. Ich habe mindestens 10 Stück. Eine schöne Tradition.

The group of boys below grows bigger by the year – they come from a dear friend as well, a new one each year. I have at least 10 of them. Such a nice tradition.

Aber in diesem Jahr gibt es einen Neuzugang. Er wohnt schon länger bei mir, hat aber nie einen guten Platz gefunden. Doch dieser Baum ist ein besonderer. Wenn man nämlich ganz genau hinguckt, hat er zwei Spitzen. Und dieser lockere Elch wusste sofort: da muss er hin!

But this year there’s a new kid on the block. He’s been with me for a while but never found the right spot. But this tree is a special one. If you look closely you will notice it has two tops. And this laid-back moose knew immediately: that’s where he had to sit!

Und jetzt sehe ich mich mal beiOur Beautiful Worldum, was denn der Dezmeber für andere so bedeutet. Und wer noch Weihnachtskarten braucht, kann es hier versuchen…
