Ich verfalle wieder in ein liebgewonnenes Muster: Sonntag ist Zeit für den Botanischen Garten – und heute auch noch mit langvermissten Freunden und zur Jazz-Matinee mit dem Jazzchor der Uni Bonn. Das war ein gelungenes Event und wer heute nicht konnte, kann das am 17., 19. und 21. Juli bei den Semesterkonzerten nachholen.

I have lapsed into an old pattern: Sunday is Botanical Gardens time – and today I was joined by good friends who hadn’t been around for a while. Also, it was time for the second jazz matinee, this time featuring the Bonn University Jazz Choir. It was a great event and if you couldn’t make it today, one of the end of term concerts on July 17, 19 or 21st might fit your schedule.

An diesem einwandfreien Hochsommertag mussten die Besucher aus Haiti auch nicht frieren – aber der Jetlag machte ihnen noch zu schaffen (oder war es nur der Mittagsschlaf?). Und plötzlich spricht meine kleine Freundin fließend und bevorzugt Französisch. Zum Glück war heute ein Tag, an dem auch mein Hirn einige Vokabeln finden konnte. Naja, und als sie dann wach war (und ein leckeres Eis gegessen hatte), wollte sie alles ganz genau wissen!

Luckily for the visitors from Haiti, this was a perfect summer day so they didn’t feel chilly – but the jetlag is still taking its toll (or was it just naptime?). And now suddenly my little friends speaks French fluently – and preferably. Luckily for me it was one of the good days when my brain does find a few French words here and there. Anyhow, once she did wake up (and had finished off a yummy ice-cream) she wanted to know every little detail!

Die Geckos hatten sich bei den vielen Besuchern im Botanischen Garten alle verkrochen, aber wir haben viele Libellen gesehen und Frösche, haben die fetten Wassertropfen auf den Lotusblättern genau untersucht und festgestellt, dass es ganz schön viele Teiche gibt.

The geckos were all hiding from the masses but we saw oodles of dragonflies and frogs, checked out the fat waterdrops on the lotus leaves and decided that there were quite a few ponds there.

Eigentlich hatte ich das Gefühl, gar nicht viele Fotos gemacht zu haben, aber es sind immer noch wunderbare Blüten übrig… also noch ein letzter Gruß an diesem wunderbaren Tag im „Juli“ – das Thema in der zweiten Woche von Our Beautiful World.

Actually, it felt like I hadn’t taken many pictures but there are still some wonderful blossoms left… so here’s a toast to this wonderful day in „July“ – which, by the way, is the prompt for this second week at Our Beautiful World.
